Well wanted to show you a new product on the market that will protect your "high wear" areas of your car. (Front ends, lights, etc...) Its called Lamin-x and we do not have it yet precut for your cars but if there is a market like others then we can work with several of you to make that happen. I just wanted to take this time and have you check us out.
http://www.lamin-x.com I ask that this page not get locked, I just wanted to share some new product to the public. Thanks

UH how do you apply it? I know I have trouble applying seran wrap to a bowl let alone a clear protectant to a car front. Post details beside the basics please. Thanks

Also looks excessively priced...Not sure I could justify spending so much money on that...

Perhaps worthwhile at the time of purchase...but my paint is in such bad shape at this point, it's long after the fact...What keeps it from melting to the car on extremely hot days, especially on black paint?Cause that's an old practical joke -- cover someone's car in saran wrap and it will melt to the car, causing major damage to the paint, and sealing it shut...

You are right in thinking that the surface of a black car in the sun might get hot, but if you've ever cooked a TV dinner with the plastic film on top in an oven at 350 degrees, you know it's not much of a challenge for the plastics industry to make a plastic that won't melt even at that high of a temperature.KSNeptune

Being that I live in Alaska, the weather and roads are really hard on your car, especially the front bumper/hood areas. I was looking for something like this for mine so i don't get so many rock chips. I had my truck for 2 years and painted the front bumper cover each year. I spent over $1000 having to repaint it from all the rock chips and deep scratches (it didn't help when I took it off road, either). I think this would be well worth the money. It may be a little complicated though and that looks to be the biggest drawback. expensive if you screw up.

Plus the chip guard looks much more complicated than the X-pel. Do you see all the separate little pieces for the chip guard? Damn, that's alot of room to screw up!

I've had this stuff on the front of my truck for 5+ years. It won't come off. I'll have to grind it off and repaint the hood anyway.

Like I said, it won't come off. The sun and heat bake it on and it hardens and cracks. It will have to be ground off and the hood repainted. That is exactlty what it was supposed to prevent.

I believe so yes. I put it on over 5 years ago, so I can't be absolutely sure.
