Hi folks, I just joined up and wanted to introduce myself. My name's Joe, and I bought my '06 Matrix XRS back in February. I haven't done much, but I do have a couple mods in the pipeline and one project that I just completed (see last picture).

Looks nice man and welcome!Do the racks cause a lot of noise through the doors where they are hooked on? Just wondering cause I had some ski racks on my old Bonneville that hooked/lipped over the roof and squished the weather stripping.

From the doors, no. But the bars and fairing make a lot of noise, even though they're the aero bars.

You wouldn't notice a difference between the aero bars vs. the normal bars. The biggest difference is the look of the bars. I think it's worth the noise. I just take mine off when not in use just for the gas savings.

The main difference I noticed was the fairing eliminated the whistling from the bars. But it makes noise no matter how you shake it. Here are some updated pics I took today:

The faring does reduce the noise, but there will always be more noise than if you didn't have a rack on. BTW, the wheels look great.

I got it from visualgarage.com. It takes about two weeks to order it, paint to match, and ship. Reception is good, but not quite as good as the whip. I got it because I would always have to remove the whip to load my kayak on the roof, and whenever I backed out of my garage, the whip got caught and bent backward in the grab handle for the garage door.

http://www.visualgarage.com/I know about the shark fin.... I have one myself got it back when they did a group buy on 9thgen. The one other thing i would do is remove all that dealer applied advertisements.

Wow! Your '06 looks new. Great car. What paint did you use on your wheels? Color? Brand? Your Thule wind faring might be a couple of inches too short on each side... allowing the wind get to the rack mounts. Those will cause quite a bit of wind noise.

Yeah the fairing is from my '04 Saab, which I don't have anymore. So it may not be the right one.I did some work on the interior today. Got a shift boot and armrest from Redlinegoods. It looks a little brighter than it really is due to the fluorescent light I had in the backseat so I could see. But it's still a pretty funky blue. I can switch it out if I change my mind later.
