I think this pretty much sums up everyone's feelings about the Yankees...Quote, originally posted by DJF »Congratulations New York Yankees on your 2009 World Series championship. It's nice to know that despite the global economic crisis and the atrocity of having to endure nine years while teams with a lower payroll beat you to the prize, good ol' fashioned having a load more money than anyone else still stands for something in this world. It warms the heart. Not bitter at all here. You just had me rooting for the Phillies is all. I need a drink.

I dunno, I'm all for putting together a good team but it seems a little unfair when one organization has millions and millions to pour into the effort. It kind of cheapens it, I guess. When I first became a baseball fan I was rooting for the Braves (this was in the early 90's, when they really sucked). I got to watch them climb out of the cellar and proceed to dominate for years. I felt real excitement watching a true "worst to first" team come together. Since then, I always root for the underdogs because, really, it's no fun to watch the same team in the series year after year.

It's funny hearing people whine about the Yankees payroll. It almost sounds the same to me as the people who preach Al Gore's climate change. The Yankees win and everyone claims the payroll as the factor or the reason. Yet when the Yankees are losing, we get canned on because we have this GREAT HUGE payroll and can't win a series. So you are being somewhat hypocritical. Claiming they can't win with a big payroll and it has no bearing on the players, yet whining about it when they do win.

I grew up a NYC area kid, still am. The Yankees could probably be compared to AT&T. They are very very good at what they do but their size and shear volume of money they have just pisses everyone off somehow. Most have no real reason to hate either, yet they do.Jealous maybe? Poverty almost always seems to view those with money with a certain level of contempt, unless they get a chance to work for them and take some of that money they hate!I'll chime in, Go Yankees!! Congrats. Anyway, it has put my boss in an unusually wonderful mood! May the Yankees win everyday.Dave

i'll give them credit --- this year they picked MVP quality FA signings. And if I had to choose where I'd like to see Halladay play -- between the Yankees or Red Sox -- I'd pick the Yanks...I'm more upset that Hinske has been in the WS 3 years in a row. I guess it pays to be a sub par left handed bench player
