Occupation:Electronics EngineerRide(s): 2003 Base Vibe, 15 speed, M&T, ABS, SAB, Satellite 2 tone. .I also have a 96 Ford Ranger 4x4 that I am learning a lot about how to fix.Congratulations on being voted GenVibeÃs Member of the Month. How does it feel? It's pretty cool to be grouped with the great people that have won this in the past. How did you find GenVibe?A google search, looking for info when trying to decide what car to buy. What made you join? The people who were active here,. At that time, there were three sites, genvibe, matrixowners, and matrixvibe.net. Joined all three. matrixowners was full of a lot of vibe hate back then, I was not welcome there, matrixvibe was good for tech info and some good people, but it was so heavily moderated that there was no fun..It died. Genvibe felt like home even as a noob. The way genvibers welcomed new members, the overall excitement the place had for these cars, and me being really happy with mine, it was something I wanted to be part of. still keeps me coming back, even though the novelty of the car wore off a long time ago.How long have you been a member? The forum software says I joined March 21, 2003, so that's about six and a half years, Sounds like a long time, feels much shorter. What is your favorite thing about the site?I like how people from the full spectrum of auto knowledge and experience are welcome, and active here. We've got the real tuning gurus, hard core enthusiasts, and with that, the new owner who only knows how to put gas in the car When that new person asks a really basic question, they are given useful information with a respectful attitude, and an open armed welcome to the site. So many other places seem to have competition to see who can flame noobs the fastest or the harshest, but here they are treated as friends we didn't know we had.The #1 thing that made you buy your vehicle I wanted the best MPG I could fit in. A lot of high mpg cars have no headroom, the Vibe has plenty. Made in USA was a another really big plus. I've kept a record of all the gas I've put in the car, 210K+ miles so far, average of 35.98 mpg. I've also spent over $13K for gas for it. Roughly 16 miles per dollar. ( gas was $1.33/gallon back when I got the Vibe.)As you know we love animals at GenVibe, do you have any pets?I have one pet, a large hound dog, looks like my signature. A Rhodesian Ridgeback, breed originated in southern Africa, to hunt lions. Since I've had him, we haven't had any more lions anywhere near the house. He's about 9. Big dogs don't last as long as smaller ones, so he may only be around for another three or four years. He doesn't seem to be slowing down much though, loves to chase. After he's passed, I'll probably try petless for a while. What is your Dream Car?My dream car was 1st gen firebird convertible. A GF in college had one, it was really slick, and I've wanted one ever since. Then I got one, and realized that with the top down I had to hunch over all the time to see out the front, and a car shouldn't hurt to drive, so I sold it. Now I'm not sure what my dream car is. I'm kinda waiting to see if the Volt lives up to all I hope it will be. For me, a really hot car is cool for a day, or a week, but where I live there is no real use for it, so I've kind of lost interested in high performance. The Vibe is still fun to drive, if I wrecked it today, I don't really see anything beating out another Vibe as a replacement. If you won $1,000,000 tax free what would you do?Probably buy a house in a place I'd want to eventually retire to, then put the rest aside for the kids. Now for $10M, I'd dump my soul-sucking job tomorrow.WhatÃs your favorite?:Movie: Two movies I end up "having" to watch if they come on TV are The Princess Bride, and The Quiet Man. Food: I'm more of a gourmand than a gourmet. Hard to pick one favorite, either Lasagne or steamed blue crabs. (or chat night garlic bread )Color: Green TV Show: I watch a lot of old movies on TV, not many of the current series. Used to watch Daily Show, South Park, Robot Chicken a lot.Musician: Bob MarleySeason: SpringSport: NFL Hobby: Book/Magazine:I like Tony Hillerman's stuffPerson: My two sons (I refuse to pick one of them over the other) Any last words? No. With over 8K posts here, you should know by now you're not likely to see my last words You all need to engage Blue Crush in an active on line back and forth, help him jack up his post count. He only needs to post 75 more than me to finally bump me out of the "highest GV post count by anyone that still owns a Vibe" position. Thanks to fellow merliner BaltoVibe for the nomination. Go Ravens
