Over the weekend I got rearended. Dont know how fast they were going but it was a pretty hard hit. None of the bags popped but the airbag light came on. Was told the problem is most likely the SDM. Anyone know if there is a way to reset the module or does it have to be replaced?

If the other driver was at fault, the best thing to do is let the other guy's insurance company handle it... any damage to the back of the Vibe? If there is and you take it in to get fixed, let them know about it so they can fix it.

You all right? I am finishing Physical Therapy for my 2 accidents (totaled Saturn and a banged up Vibe.) If you are hurting AT ALL see a lawyer. I wasn't hurting the day of the accident, and the insurance company has me on tape saying I am not hurting the day of the accident. I called them back the next day to say I was in pain, they told me to go to the doctor they would pay. Now they sent my lawyer the recorded conversation from the day of the accident where I said I was fine, they offered me $1,000 instead of the $20k they owe me and my medical insurance company. My lawyer is taking care of it, and it is worth every penny I am paying him to fight off those dirty sharks. Not sure where Springtown is, my lawyer will work in Harris County (Houston) or any county bordering it. Let me know if you want his contact info. He is charging 33% of damages, standard is 40%.Also, if you get the chance post a picture, I would like to see how your Vibe made out.

I don't think it activates the seat belt pretensioners in rear impacts but if it did, that would cause the light to be on if they've been deployed. I remember seeing a salvage Vibe that was for sale which also was rear ended and had the air bag light on but no frontal damage. Could very well be that the SDM noticed a collision and triggered the light. *shrug* At any rate, it usually has to be replaced. Let whoever fixes your car know about this and they need to take care of it.Hope you're alright!
