Has anyone changed the brakes on a Mazda MPV minivan?

My mother took here 2006 MPV to the dealer and they wanted $270 to change the pads, some hardware kit, and reface the rotors. I thought that was a ridiculous price and told her I could do it like I have on my own car. The dealership said the van has a special brake kit and would take two days to order. I'm wondering if that is really true and if I wouldn't be able to get it at Autozone or something. Thanks.
