Got this email today"As a valued Citi® cardmember, we want to make you aware of this great opportunity from Citibank, our retail banking affliliate.Lock in a fixed, competitive rate on a 2-year CD and watch your savings grow."That is how we "little people" are paying the price for the bailouts. Mark my words, in a year CD rates are likely going to be quite a bit higher. You can get about 1.75% on a FDIC insured money market savings account - why commit to 2 years. Keep your powder dry as they say.

I wouldnt put my $$ into a CD, with inflation averaging 3% and a CD @ 1.75% you are not even beating inflation.....actually you are losing to inflation. I like mutual funds. Over a 30yr period from 1978 - 2008 they a have averaged 11%.

As a valued Citi card member, I learned today they're raising my interest rate to 27% on a store card I've had for 10 years. Due to the "cost of business dramatically increasing" of course.I only keep the Citi card because it's the oldest fricken thing on my report. I leave a $0 balance on it, charging a couple bucks every few months and paying it off so it stays active. Maybe I'll just take a hit and cancel the thing anyway. I've already got my mortgage, so who cares if a few points get knocked off at this point. I have absolutely no use for any of these huge banks...

I remember when 18% was considered outrageous.
