Has anyone seen the new Vibe ads?

Hello again, I just saw one of the new ads for the Vibe the other day. It featured some guy who was obviously a DJ or something to that effect loading his gear into his Vibe. Being a full fledged member of Gen X I found the whole atmosphere of the ad to be appealing. What did everyone else think? Cool or too much? Jwnmt

I saw the ad you are mentioning also. I do agree and think that this ad has to be one of the best ones yet and you can see the appeal towards certain age ranges this time also.

I personally think the ad sucks. Reason being is because they don't show enough of the vehicle. It's only in very short periods and they are never very good positions of the vehicle like it's side view. They finally started to show the monotone Vibes thou so that's good. The new Matrix ad is great. It shows a red Matrix and from all views so you get great shots of it. Pontiac could learn a few things about advertising from Toyota.

Yeah, Pontiac's advertising has always been pretty poor. Although I have not seen this new Vibe ad; I'll keep my eyes out for it. The only Pontiac ads I ever liked were the ones for the '98 Trans Ams...and even then they had to hire BMW's marketing agency to come up with those."It's so powerful...it's almost....scary....Boo."

Pontiac is trying way too hard to reach the so-called 'gen-x' demographic in an attempt to build Pontiac brand preference as the generation ages. The characters portrayed in the commercials are a bunch of pubescent teens who are more than likely unable to afford the the car unless daddy buys if for them (hence all the old fogies you see driving Vibes). Pontiac doesn't have the reputation that Toyota does, so they should have priced the car more competively (i.e. significantly cheaper than the Matrix). Since both cars are basically the same, a lower price would change the attitude of Toyota owners who feel Pontiac/GM makes an inferior car.In addition, I second dm's statement that Toyota is doing a much better job marketing the Matrix.

My formula for Pontiac Success: Less marketing. More production.

pontiac has always been in the market for the younger buyers, period. the first car my dad bought when he was in his 20's was a '65 GTO. DeLorean made the move to take pontiac in a yonger direction and thats pretty much where the core has stayed for almost 30 years. they do need some advertising work, but most people know that pontiac is and always will be GM's young car market maker.yog

It's funny, but since I got interested in the Vibe (about March, 2002), I have not seen ONE ad on TV or in newspapers! On the other hand, since the wait time is about 12 weeks, why should they advetise anyway?

quote:I have not seen ONE ad on TV or in newspapers! It's funny you said THAT.. just in Sunday's newspaper, every Pontiac dealership in my area now has big ads for the Vibe. It seems like all of a sudden they are advertising them even though there are about 1 or 2 in their stock. Other than that, people will either have to do a dealer search, travel away to another dealership (like I did), or order one.

I am sure that the ad was designed that way on purpose. Pontiac is trying to get an image across to prospective buyers. The car may not be in the ad that much but it will generate curiosity about the car in general. I my opinion, most GM commercials these days are boring and don't last in my memory. This new commercial appeals more to the MTV genertation which is an area GM has largely ignored. Jwnmt

I was told by a Pontiac dealer near here that they weren't going to bother advertising the Vibe in Canada right now because of the popularity/wait period.
