Now when they make this and the pennypinchers get done with it, how much of this cool sexy car is going to be left???

So it's the Toyota/Subaru answer to the overpriced Nissan Z and underpowered Mazda RX-8. I would honestly toss around calling this the Celica.

146 HP? Toyota's going to get laughed at with that number. I find that a perfectly good amount of ponies, but the press and potential buyers won't, they are going to tear that car to shreds if that's actually what it has. Looks like it would compete with things like the Genesis coupe, that car has 210 hp out of its base engine.Looks ok-ish from the front but not feeling the side view from the C pillar on back.

146hp is pretty low. The base model Matrix/Vibe come with 140. Toyota is MAJORLY missing the mark with their power output, building a car that looks exciting and fun is only half the equation. Get on the ball already! The tC comes standard with 164hp!3 engine options:4cyl. 205hp (this can be the bottom model, you can get 205 easily from their 4's.)4cyl. 240hp turbo (Acura can do it easily on the RDX with the 2.4L)6cyl. 300+hp TRD model. (make is sick out of the box and label it the TRD, not GT, GT-S, or S, or whatever else.)Toyota needs to start offering TRD versions of most of their cars with true performance and not just looks. How many Mugen Civics do you see on the road, hardly any cause all it was was an appearance package with different suspension.

I can't tell if you guys like it or not. But like I said, that was the base model, they are planning on making a higher model (gt, gt-s, s, trd... WHO KNOWS!? haha) with a pretty big turbo and it will be producing high numbers. This car looks MEAN and I would hope it would have some pep.

and the Mugen was like 8k over the already over priced msrp.you also have to realize the market for "performance" cars has dwindled a little...so as long as they keep production numbers sorta low until they see how many sell I dont think many/any car companies are really jumping on performance yet.

No matter unless your company is strictly about performance (i.e. exotic car companies). The sales are going to be lower than the mainstream model. But they are created and sold to bring excitement, drive dealership traffic, and sell a few more models that have some oomph. With all this new tech you think they could get more ponies out there for us with some simple add ons. At least add factory accesories that dont cost an arm and leg.

Considering that this car is smaller and lighter than a Genesis Coupe, 175HP would be pretty decent power for a base model. After that well... sky is the limit.Any V6 or V8 would probably be too heavy for a car like this

from what I read on other forums, they are talking a 300 hp version be available. regardless, i like the look, who knows what will come of it though. I may just stick with my plans for a 135i turbo in a few years (or equivalent). I'm getting older and want my leather, luxury and quiet ride.

If they make that car to be only 1500lbs or less, 146HP will be more then plenty!!!

I think the real shocker was the subaru's boxer engine. Wonder what convinced them to do that. Its a wonderful engine.

That's a nice looking car. Hope it is the next Celica and comes with the right engine. If they put a boxer in it, I would think it would not be hard to get a WRX motor.

Toyota will have the crap version, and Subaru is now alluding to putting in the WRX motor so that's a turbo with AWD and 268 hp. Keep it under 30k and I'll buy.

I love the Subaru look. Hopefully it's close to that. But AWD in a nice coupe and if they can keep the cost reasonable, again under 30k. Then make a 300+ STi version for mid 30's. Again I'd buy.

I like it......but looks too much like the Z car though. So does the Lexus LFA & Nissan GTR. They all look like Z cars with body kits to me. Not knocking performance of course but strickly exterior styling.
