With the US economy being what it is, add it to your investment portfolio.

ohhh ohhh ok.. Its great to have some extra cash!!.. well it kinda depends on what you wanna do but I think you could do a lot of suspension mods and get some really nice tires.TRD lowering springs: $267.77 I like these because they're not gonna lower the vibe too much.. just 1" inch front 1.5" rear.. TRD rear sway bar: $145 dont bother with the front.. theres also the progress rear sway bar if you like blue..TRD front strut tie bar: $169Stop tech front stainless steel brake lines: $81TRD high performance front brake pads: $63and then there's your wheels. It always fun to get some sticky tires but, only to use during the summer months. If you have 16" alloy wheels you should put Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec tires on them but only for the summer months.. Use some steelies with winter tires for winter time. Those Dunlop tires are soooo nice though. I want them for my vibe so bad but, they're expensive. They cost about $100 per tire on the 16's..good luck with that.. and keep in mind your going to help stimulate the economy by buying all that stuff.. so have fun and spend it all!!

Tint maybe?Being the practical SOB that I am, I'd probably use this opportunity to take care of all the little maintenance jobs that need to be done in the near future but no one likes to pay for:-Fluid flushes-Oil change-engine air filter-cabin air filter-brake pads-tiresI find that when this type of stuff needs to be done, I'm short on cash or just not willing to part with it and I try to push the life of things. It might be nice to just knock off a list of these little maintenance procedures and have some peace of mind on the road.Have fun dropping that cash!!

I'm with you, I understand a little "fun" money when it shows up. You're practical all year long, one needs to splurge and be wasteful just once in awhile.I had some extra cash and have always wanted another small convertible ever since I gave my son in law my Miata, yep, I'm nuts! Long story. After a lot of research and price shopping I decided that I'm not a snob of any sort so a Chevy Cavalier or Pontiac Sunfire would be about perfect for a little fun car. I ended up with a Sunfire convertible in perfect shape EXCEPT that it needed a new head.I'm mechanical so I rebuilt the entire engine, bearings, rings, head, along with all new hoses belts and related items so I have worry free motoring. So here I am, My wife and I enjoying the Fall colors with the top down while my Vibe takes a well deserved rest in the driveway.Get something Fun! Not an oil change or new brake pads. Make it Something you would NOT normally acquire and something you can enjoy for years to come.Oh, and did I mention that this almost $4000 (yes, low miles, excellent top, body and interior, no rust) car only cost me $700 plus parts to I am totally right side up and thousands to the good on this set of wheels.Dave(old picture from when it came home)

I was going to say put the money into some wheels and tires, but then I checked your garage and I see your sig pic is just your "winter wheels".Don't invest in stocks - too iffy right now. Invest in the car. That will bring a smile to your face every time you see it or drive it.

a mere 11 months ago (thread 35576) you lost your job so you know what that is like. Then six months ago your daughter Mahlee was born so now it's all about her, not you. You didn't say how much money you stumbled upon that this $1300 is just the skimming off the top that you are going to spend on fun, so it's hard to not say that you have a duty to ensure some financial security now, and blowing it on frivolous enhancements for something as transient as a car isn't the most responsible thing to do. But assuming that you had a huge windfall, and this $1300 is truly excess, then be sure to use some of it to commit a random act of romance upon your wife.

STOP MAKING SENSE!Since my daughter was born and my f-i-l passed, we have be extremely fortunate. This really is extra money that I have come upon. In two weeks my wife and I are going to Vegas to see U2. I am planning something special for her then.
