Hello All I have been using this site for a while now and finally joined. Its very helpful. Well I have an 03 1Z Vibe. First and only owner with about 83K miles on it. We got it in Hawaii not a lot of driving to do there. Anyhow recently I installed a Short Ram intake. Everything was good except the RPMS were crazy at first until the MAF figured out what happpened and evened out around 1500 RPMs at rest. It stayes there. Well about a month later my Check engine flips on. Then I start hearing a rough flipping type noise right behind my fire wall near the steering wheel. The clicking only happens with I hit the Gas. I took it in to get plugged up to read the code and the friggin 441 got me. I have found out now that its a combination of things. I know for sure the CCanister is bad, I get a whoosh from the tank when I open it everytime. However what the heck is the clicking noise and why does the engine sound like its gonna grind its self up, Im assuming my MAF may be going as well as my throttle positioner and Purge control valve along with solinoid? Also does anyone know what the heck the Denso 12V looking thing is that is attached to vaccum lines? I think that is bad too. Just really stressin about this problem, I got all kinds of mods as far as suspension, rims and Upgrades to throw on my vibe and now its dying on me???? Please any help would be much appreciated.

Clicking is normal as it is the VSV - you can hear it due to you installing a Short Ram Intake.Normal Idle even after a Short Ram Intake should be well below 1000 RPMs. My guess is that you FRIED your MAF as if you may not of disconnected your NEGATIVE Battery terminal before installing it or did not put it in a plastic bag to keep it from getting fouled out. As for your Evap Canister - sounds like you may need a new one.

When operating, the system puts a vacuum on the gas tank, part of the evaporative emissions controls The vacuum is so that any gas that evaporates gets sucked into the combustion instead of just venting to the outside. If you didn't get an air rushing in sound when you take off the gas cap after running it, then you'd have a problem. The most common cause for P0441 is a loose or defective gas cap, not sealing, so it can't set a vacuum on the tank. Sounds like thats not your problem though. What kind of short ram did you get? It might be worth looking to see if anyone else here has the same short ram and had a similar CEL.

Take a look at this video: http://workshop.search-autopar....htmlTalks about trouble shooting a P0441 CodeTry what Joatmon stated above 1st - those are all likely causes too considering your situation.

Its a Weapon R dragon intake, sri. I hooked up a scanner, I got P0451, and 6 codes, 1 pending. There was a Fuel, Comprehensive Components, 02 Snsr and 02 Htr and Misfire. Have the 02 sensors on order. This problem seems to be getting worse. If I throw the car in Neutral and cruise the RPMS jump up and down constantly from 1000 to 2000 until I come to a stop where it rests just above 1K. Also from 2nd to 5th when I hit the gas it sounds terrible, like Im grinding gears almost. I would have just brought this into the dealership but there arnt any Pontiac Dealers anywhere near me here in Germany. Any suggestions?
