Since i owned my GT ive noticed that the speedometer has been consistently 5-7 mph faster than surrounding cars and my GPS has also confirmed this, took it to the dealer and they said its a common problem and ordered a new cluster, hopefully this new one will be much more accurate, and im also leary on tearing the dash all apart and them putting it back together right, at least its under warranty. First issue ive had with it.

My 09 is the same exactly speedometer reads much faster than you are going. Verified with GPS. I just run 80 on my speedometer and I am fine.

I would just do that, its just an annoyance to me, and the service tech said they have done the repair a few times for people

My '09 GT w/AT speedometer would read 64mph when I was doing an actual 60mph. This was with the tire air pressure at 32psi. So I increased the PSI to 40 & now the speedometer reads 61-62mph.I never thought that it would change the reading that much, but since I wanted a little better MPG I thought that it was worth a try.Not sure if I'd want a service guy getting into my dash unless I had an unfixable problem. Try the air pressure increase. I really don't see any difference in the ride quality. But, YMMV.

yup mines the same. i've learned to just drive 70mph so it's actually like 65 or something lol

Hmmm...wouldn't this mean that our odometer is actually racking up miles too fast as well? I would not want that.

I took my 2009 Vibe GT into the dealer for the speedometer and this is what they found..."Internal Failure of the (Instrument Cluster) found the speedometer to be off... and ABS Speed Sensors reading 4-5 MPH off...Replaced Istrument Cluster and ABS Speed sensors... Speedometer off by 1-2 MPH at 60MPH, within spec"I Hope this helps

How is the tire wear now that you are 8 PSI over?

Heh, my 2010 1.8 vibe seems to be 5-8 mph slower...Speedometer would read 41-44 and I'd only be going 35-39. Assuming that posted speed readings are accurate. But I do have to drive quite a bit faster than the posted speed to keep up with other drivers.
