August US GM Sales Down 20.2%; Pontiac is bright spot up 23.3%

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- General Motors Co. said Tuesday that total U.S. August sales dropped 20.2% to 246,479 vehicles from 308,817 a year ago. Pontiac sales fared the best with a 23.3% increase to 29,921 vehicles from a year ago. Chevrolet sales saw a 9.2% decline to 168,130 vehicles. Cadillac sales fell 55% to 6,931 units. Buick sales dropped 51.7% to 8,612.And that was with the CFC program. What will Sept, be like? Cash for clunkers gone, and Pontiac all but gone.

Dosent look good! now you can give them back if your not happy with them! a new prgram, Seems there running out of ways to givecars away bad part is the cars they have sold they cant be making any money on because there soooooo discouted, sad days for GM.

Those numbers on Cadillac and Buick are telling. Who usually buys those brands? Older folks with some investments, I'd say. Investments that might include GM stock. Well, they had their investment in shares seized by the government, and given to UAW. Sharing the wealth, I think it's called. If you don't think that leaves a bitter taste, think again.GM could GIVE these cars away, and get no takers. I don't care if you put a million mile warranty on them.And while the unions technically own GM (the means of production in the hands of the people, I think Marx called it), the taxpayers are on the hook for more bailouts when they come.But I bought my Vibe because it was so cheap! I got no bone to pick!
