How to tell the difference between a 1.8 and 2.4

Hi all, my name is JR and I just joined up. I have a quick question that I hope someone has the answer to.I just bought a 2010 Vibe AWD yesterday and these are supposed to have the 2.4 correct? In looking at the engine, it looks the same as the new 1.8 with the exhaust manifold on the front. Today, I was looking at another Vibe with the 2.4 and it looks completely different from mine?? The exhaust is on the back and the top cover says dual VVT-i. Is there something amiss here, or do I have them screwed up in looking at them. I'm totally confused by it all, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks, I look forward to being a part of this forum. JR

The 1.8 is only on base model Vibes. All 2009 - 2010 AWD and GT's have the 2.4. This is the 1.8L.

All new 2009/2010 AWD Vibes are only available with the 2.4L engines. The last AWD with a 1.8L engine to be mad was 2006. Your safe...

This is the 2.4L. If you look inside the base model Vibe and see the fold flat front passenger seat, the car has a 2.4L. If the Base Vibe has a normal front passenger seat then it has the 1.8L. I'm sure that there are more differences.

In 2010, 1.8L Vibes had the options for the cargo management and the fold down front seat.

Both the new and the old 1.8L have the exhaust on the backside, not the front.

how about the tires/rims? don't the 1.8's only come with hubs while the 2.4 has a couple different rim options?
