2009 Sprung a Leak?! Picture heavy

After some major rain in Florida, I noticed some mold between the floor mat and the door (which I cleaned already), upon further inspection I noticed rusty water(?) drips coming down from behind the glove box so I pulled it out and this is what I found...I haven't driven through any deep water, while the Vibe did get caught in the rain with the windows down and sunroof open, it wasn't for more than 30 seconds and I cleaned up any water right away. Where ever this leak is coming from it looks like there was a lot. Help

I'd just take it right back to the dealer and tell them to deal with it. From the placement of the rust, it doesn't look like anything from just leaving the windows down. I've done that several times and have never encountered any rust.

I just hope they won't have to take apart the whole dash... but I bet they'll have to.

I'd assume they'd inspect all the gasket areas first and hopefully for you they'll find it there and fix it and then clean up the rust spots. Good luck in this!!

Take it to the dealer asap. The sooner you get this taken care of the better.

Keep us posted... I agree, this is not from a window left down in the rain...

With that amount of rust, something is quite rotten! Somewhere by the bottom of the windshield, possibly by the hood hinge. Your dealer will have fun with that.

Well, I just got back and turns out it was a hose in the sunroof that had a kink. Kinky... anywho, got a base red Vibe as a loaner... it's VERY base... I miss my sunroof.

Wow... used to be you got a puddle on your floor... Looks like the new MY brought about a whole new problem with the moonroof drains. Wish they would find a better way to drain those things. My Cobalt pulled a similar stunt. Of course now the track is just broken and it won't open. WHY would you use plastic on a major retention component on a heavy piece of glass? Ahem... anyway... hope they can fix it and repair the damage done.

You'd think that the drain hose would be routed to the underside of the car...

I think I even got new seats out of it too, don't know why though.

glad you got that fixed...i never knew there are drains inside for the sunroof. i just went to the dealer to check my sunroof leak and they said it's normal to have some leaks and that's why there's drains inside to direct water out. they didn't do anything to fix my leak but they helped get rid of the headliner rattle that's been bugging me for over half a year lol

I have no idea why, and I can't really tell as the seats were new anyway.
