New member from WV

Hi -- checking in as a new member. My wife and I bought our third Vibe last week, and it is possible that our 3-bay garage has one of the largest non-commercial densities of Vibes on the planet. That -- and the bad news about the NUMMI factory - has prompted us to get on GenVibe. I have a feeling the Vibe community is going to have to take up the flag because clearly GM is fading on us.....Our three vibes (see signature below) were all bought in the Northern WV-SW Penna. area. We still have them all though we are looking for a good home for Alpha V. We just don't have the space/time continuum to retain all three, though it will be a bittersweet day when we transfer title to Alpha V to its new owners....lot of memories there! On a philosophical note, I find it really ironic that GM is turning its corporate back on one of their few autos of this decade to have a powerful legacy impact on the world auto community. Anyone want to make a list of Vibe knock offs/rip offs??. Hmmm.. lets seeCan't really count the twin sibling Matrix....Nissan VersaSaturn AstraScion xDDodge Excaliber (what is an excaliber anyway?)Suburu ImprezaHave I left any off? The list could probably be longer but those are ones that could be lined up side-by side. Maybe that's why GM decided to look elsewhere with its plans. Hopefully in the future GM can compete as well as innovate. Meanwhile, we'll all miss the Vibe.....but ours will be around for many moons to come!!!Hi to all GenVibe heads!

Welcome! that's awesome that you have 3 of them, I always thought it was weird when someone had 2+ of the same car, but then I had 2 1996 Honda Civic's, and my parents have 2 prius's and I think I understand it a little more... If you like something, you stick with it.

Its tentatively sold (money down) though the deal will close in early August and I've left the Autotrader ad on - ignore the price, I've jacked up the price to keep the ad alive in case the deal busts (now its right up there with all those goofy dealer ads!)Bod, nice to meet you! We're in Morgantown.....if you are up stop byThanks KK - the real funny part was getting #2 -- my wife got a new 2007 to replace the 2003 and the dealer offered a box of popcorn in trade, so we decided to sell it ourselves -- I got to detail Alpha V and do the selling. Got into the cleanup -- I had drived it some on loan from my wife and really liked the car. We had a fair amount of trouble getting leads (it was February), so I got to drive it for a couple of months. I finally sold it to a couple of parents looking for a first car for their daughter -- and on the way home from Fairmont, I realized the like had blossomed into love. I called back the father and offered $100 for not being able to pull the trigger. Boy I felt like a jerk but he understood.... So that was how we ended up with 2. The third one was kind of impulse buying. We saw the big incentive deals last month and it dawned on us that GM was setting up to pull the vibe's cord, and decided this was likely the last time to buy a new Vibe. We got a really good deal on Delta V, and I've been talking about getting a 2.4 to get up over the mountains without having to downshift to 3rd....Now what happens if I can't pull the trigger again.....geez....the new owners are a young couple from VA and they will take excellent care of it. We're gonna do it this time!Got to start a thread sometime on comparing the old and new Vibe styles. I miss the old grey cladding....and the original Vibe body style was hard to beat. Plus they #&^%$@ left off the side molding on this one so I have to get an aftermarket one. Found a link on this forum to a supplier with GM-painted trim pieces for owner install. BM1

You know, talking about us accumulating these Vibes raises a point. The kid buying Alpha V drove up 8 hours after seeing the ad because his sisters had a Vibe and a Matrix and they raved about them to him. He drove the Matrix and was pretty excited. Pontiac may have excitement, but the Vibe has infectiousness...... They should have named it the Pontiac Virus -- but marketing would have dissed it huh

link to the picshttp://www.autotrader.com/fyc/...falselike I said ignore the price it is just holding the ad....For those of you from around Pittsburgh, the photo is in the WalMart parking lot which has the best view in Morgantown, a 270 degree vista overlooking the Monongahela River over to Chestnut Ridge....we are standing on a mountain of coal mine waste (where else would one put a Wal Mart...)

Welcome to the Vibe site... and a very nice set of Vibes you have. I've actually stopped there where you took your pictures... got fuel and some coffee. Really like the area. Drove through a heck of a snow storm once... late at night on another trip. Gets pretty wild up there.By the way, here's some- breaking News-! Vibe is not, I repeat, Not going away. It's just moved over to Cadillac. Will be on sale this month and it's called the 2010 Cadillac SRX. The bad news... (and deal breakers for me) 1) It's now expensive. Base is $34.000 2) The boys and girls at Cadillac made it heavy (more like Obese!) How about 4,224 pounds worth of Obesity! 3) Since its way overweight... It sucks down gas at a pretty fast rate... so mileage estimated at only 21 mpg. 4) And of course, since Cadillac folks generally can't, or won't do too much for themselves, it's only offered with a six speed automatic slushbox mated to a turbo 2.8 liter V6 or a 3.0 liter V6. ..... but... On the positive side...(and wished Pontiac had done for our Vibes)...1) They got the roof rails right!

I think you are right on the Impreza RIP, but the Impreza models (the WRX?? I am not sure) that tucked in after the vibe came later. Whoever names the models over at Subaru drinks too much coffee.Boy you know the thing about this Vibe owners group that really stands out is THERE SURE ARE A LOT OF DOGS AROUND HERE! We could use a thread on THE DOGS OF VIBE. I know Ziggy (our lab mix) hops in any vibe hatch he finds open. Bet we could get some interesting photos....Vibolista: That is really scary news about the Vibillac (sounds kind of like an anti-depressive med, huh). Who on Earth would buy a carb-overloaded Vibe with a Hummer pricetag? And who in heck is running the show at GM? They should read the newspapers more, and take some Vibillac.and Toolguy I got it wrong. Its the ExVibe and the Caliber. If Chrysler punts on their car too, its the ExCaliber!BM1

Doubt the Vibe had anything to do with it as the original WRX was a rally car. Whatever it was, it was always an Impreza.Quote, originally posted by bikeman1 »Vibolista: That is really scary news about the Vibillac (sounds kind of like an anti-depressive med, huh).LOL - I was thinking Vibarron...

You guys were mentioning cars that the Vibe inspired... so is it just me, or is this 2010 Cadillac SRX a full Vibe ripoff/knockoff of the first order?Overall, to me, it's a First Gen Vibe with some major Cadillac updates. Maybe this should have its own thread? And no, the SRX picture was not taken on my driveway... although it's a good built in comparison.

Wow, you know, I thought you were just smoking something on that earlier post vibolista, but you are absolutely right, this looks indeed like a chemically altered (just add lipids.....) vibe. If you pick up one of these, looks to me like you become the proud owner of a VW (Vibe Wannabee!). We do need a Vibe Wannabee post to get going. The genetic link would even get closer if I went in the garage a snapped a profile of my new Delta Vibe 2009....This may be GM's answer to the hated Matrix! I second the motion....add it to the list! Ladies and Gentlemen ... nous presentez ce soir...for your entertainment and enjoyment....could it be....its a bird...its a plane....no its .....GM Reinvention!! This may speak volumes to GM's writeoff of the vibe. Its sins: way too practical. Nowhere near enough fuel inefficiency. And hardly any sticker shock. The SRX is surely a car for Hummer owners on the rebound..... BM1

Hi Plat. My staying-on-old-topic response: > I still have more bikes than Vibes, thanks to selling our first (2003) in August. Two vibes three bikes. Bikes take less space! You've suitably inspired me to go back and figure out how to update my signature....The three bikes (quite a bit more variety than the two Vibes) are a circa 1988 old school (Masi) Italian frame from a flatter place before we moved to WV land of mine trucks (now with Trek clinchers and 27mm tires for the sand-packed rail trail); a circa 1995 built up CADD-3 hardtail Cannondale frame with a Marzocchi air over oil shock; and a circa 2000 K2 full suspension which is kinda like an old 4-wheeler truck. The K2 has been gathering dust last few years but I still spend more time on the other two than in the Vibe during warm weather months -- the sport frame mainly on the flat rail trail system . Both bikes fit snugly in the Vibe with the wheel on, piece of cake with a wheel off. Update on the new Vibe purchased 7/2009 - we really love it despite thinking it was kinda ugly when we first saw the 2009's. We love the classic vibe but this thing is just flat out fun to drive. Its the 2.4L engine in large part. Gets used routinely for out of town travel by both my wife and I due to its almost as good gas mileage combined with its great power on hills. Not sure if you have any hills out there in Southern ILL (I've seen some spots there on which marbles would roll only slowly) but if you do consider the 2.4. Have enjoyed my time on Genvibe and learned a lot from some really nice people. Great board! Only gripe is that there is no emoticon with sunglasses....Thanks for reminding me that its been almost 3 months for Delta Vibe! BM1

Howdy BM1,Ah yes, bicycles. I would easily presume that you are in much better physical shape than I since all my bikes have always had engines. I've owned many motorcycles and currently have three.Although I haven't driven a 2.4L Vibe, my wife's Camry and my son's Scion xB both have the same engine and having driven them both, I can speculate that the Vibe is a hoot to drive with the added power and torque. We do have some hills here in S. IL, but nothing like what you have in the Mountain State. I've lived in Central IL, and it is just nasty flat.I, too, am enjoying myself here on GV. PlatinumVibe08
