Hiya! I have been a long time reader of these forums and finally decided to join up.I just got done installing a new sound system in my 05 Vibe (1.8L 4cyl). I just took it out for a spin and its shaking something fierce at below 1000 rpm when idling. I just replaced the stock speakers and put in a 150Watt RF amp for the 6.5" JL Sub.I have installed many car audio systems and I know this one is in properly. I checked all connections again and they are good. The car has 55K on it. Could the amp be putting strain on the alternator and in turn making the engine run hard idling thus causing the shaking? I appreciate it! FYI I am a computer tech so if you need tech support feel free to ask. I am just getting started in car modifications/repairs.Thanks in advance!~Tim

Unless you nicked a wire or something, you know, there is nothing in the audio system you installed that should cause that... Load on the alt will cause a dead battery, not much more.. You could always disconnect the power wire at the battery, give it a try.. Basically, revert back to stock without removing everything... This like this happen, my brother a former audio install garage manager, has told me of many stories of things like this happening..

Whenever I disconnect the battery from my GT I have this happen on and off for a day afterward. The way I understand it the fuel management computer has to 'relearn' how to operate optimally. It goes away in a day or so.
