Clutch scratch (3rd gear)

Hey folks,I just had my clutch replaced (112k) for the second time. I bought the clutch kit from the same place I bought it when it went out at 60k miles. It is aftermarket. But, because I work at a Volvo dealer, I had a mechanic do the labor. Now when I try to shift into 3rd there is a loud scratch to it. So lately I have been skipping 3rd. He asked everyone around him and even a Ponitac mechanic and they're telling him he did everything right. He mentioned something about the Syncros??? It didn't do this problem before.

Was the throw out bearing replaced with the clutch?

I don't think so. But it's weird how it only happens in third gear.

Most people replace the throw-out bearing when doing the clutch, because the incremental cost is small. However, to me, it sounds likes your 3rd gear synchro is toast. Ouch !
