This has most likely been beat to death But here goes. What is the pad of choice ( brake) as of late? 60k and time to start looking into a brake job.

Maybe I'm just lucky.I have 73k and the pads look almost new.

My wife is not driving your vibe I put 5 sets of life time brake pads on our van in 150,000 mile.

So it's not just an anomaly. I have a touch over 120,000 miles on my '03 manual tranny and I still have significant pad left. Last brake job was when the car left the factory.I was so astonished by this I took it to the local mechanic to make sure I wasn't hallucinating. Sure enough, plenty of meat on the fronts, and the rears are only worn maybe 30%. I'm starting to think maybe I should do a brake job just because of the age of the pads and to inspect the condition of the calipers/drums!

Did I miss somthing ? What is the pad of choice? are semi metallic ok ? I think I will needing pads soon.

Not abnormal if you have a manual, the brakes typically last longer due to engine braking i.e. downshifting to slow the car. I changed mine twice so far since the stocks, the set I have now are great from Midas, a pad the guy who worked there recommended, not their typical stuff. The rear drums are in great shape at 97k he said.

I've owned the EBC pads, but they were the Ultimaxx pads, not the green/yellow/red stuff pads... they did very commendably I must say.. They had a good bite and better fade resistance than my stock parst.. These were on my Subie, so they got more performance driving.. The Ultimaxx pads are the EBC OEM replacement pads.. but they are a touch nicer than stock.. I hear a lot of good things about Akibino (SP?) pads you can get trhough The Tire Rack..

I just went down to Azone and bought their Duralast Ceramic pads. I put some Semi-Metallics on the front of my truck. I have Ceramics for street use on the front of my IROC. I don't get fancy on daily drivers...just use something easy to find w/lifetime warranty.My wife had a bit over 100k when hers went out. Probably in the 110-120k range. She drives 100 miles/day on the interstate...so she racks up miles quick but doesn't use the brakes much(but when she does, only 2 settings...off and on!)I don't use 'fancy' race type pads on anything. I had PFC Perf Fric on my Camaro at one time. They sucked...but I still use them when road racing. Not sure on the EBC OEM replacement stuff...
