I know we all love our Vibes, but it would have been nice if the last official Pontiac was an actual Pontiac. I know the G8 is a Holden (I think, not sure though) but that or the Soltice I think would have been the better farewell to Pontiac.

G8 is indeed a Holden. Goodbye Vibe.....for now.....we'll meet again soon when I buy my third Vibe........a beautiful used '09 or '10.

I guess we'll never see the hard top Solstice. I was looking forward to seeing it on the dealer lots. Wouldn't it be cool to own the last Vibe ever built?

The Vibe's a great car but for it to be the last Pontiac kinda sucks... A Toyota with the soul of a refrigerator as the last example of Pontiac's "driving excitement?" what the?Yeah, the G8's a Holden, but that is a better example of what Pontiac once was/could have been. Even the Solstice coupe would have been awesome, but they're shuttering Wilmington soon if they haven't already.So, the Vibe and a bunch of abused rental G6's as the last Pontiacs.

Great, now we have two 'last cars' in our family (2000 PLYMOUTH Neon) and our 03 Vibe. I'm getting the feeling whatever car my wife and I buy to replace our Neon in 2010-2011 will be next on the chopping block.Not a lot of love for the Vibe in the comments section of that site http://jalopnik.com/5285970/20...ntiac

hey Pontiac/Toyota, howsabout a radical redesign for the 2010 model? Like the Hybrid Vibe we've all clamored for? Or a full electric, the Vibe would have been the perfect vehicle to push that technology..a guy can dream, anyway.

Pontiac is done. Finito. Tough. Random factory production schedule leaves the Vibe as the last car in the line. Big deal. Not a statement for the dead Pontiac line. Don't let Jalopnic comments about Vibe get to you. These people think that any vehicle smaller and more frugal than a super duty truck or Hummy is sub-compact irrelevance. GM is responsible for it's own deconstruction. Accountants were left to build cars, and extremely highly paid managers were imported from other industries to run things. Car guys lost. So they built what was cheap and easy, didn't put real money and resources into serious R&D (except for those must have gizmos and doodads that load up price and complexity)... and made believe they knew what 'regular consumers' wanted. We all make half a million or more a year, just like they do, right? So gas prices, durability, affordability are not an issue. They thought I wanted a good Sub- urban, not a good Sub- compact! OOPS! I have to do a little travel in my work, and I see a lot of Corollas and Civics in driveways and highways, Should have been GM products. Shoulda-Woulda-Coulda! Instead, for years we got Cavaliers/Cobalts, including the epic Ci-moron Caddy. GM really sweated the details on that one. South Korean Hyundai was building stone age cars a few short years back... and look at them now, already pushing in on Toyota/Honda/Mazda/Subie. How did they do that? GM couldn't do that? What? Give me a break!
