I called OnStar this morning. My 1-year free plan is now over and I just discovered I was billed $28.16 on my credit card to continue the service until June 11. As I don't really use it, I think it's too expensive at $24.95 per month, plus $50 for 100 minutes (I'm in Canada, I'm sure it's cheaper in the USA).So I told the guy I wanted to cancel the service. He then offered me to reduce the price at $18.95/month. I then told him that I thought it was also too expensive to buy minutes for the phone, that I'd like to be able to buy only 30 or 50 minutes at a time, instead of the minimum of 100. He said that if I renew, he'd give me 30 minutes free, to use within a year. I said I'll think about it and hung on.What were you offered to go on with OnStar? Should I stick to my cancellation idea, and maybe they will offer be even better deals?
I continued my Onstar without delay. My wife was not happy, but I said that the $200 was my insurance since it was the vehicle she drove. I indicated that I wanted to pay the price to have the capability for her in the event of emergency.

If so, at $24.95/month in Canada, we get screwed big time, once again...
My OnStar free year ended back in March. I don't think they charged me any continued service but now that you mention it.... I'll ask my gf to check her credit card statement.

I just tried to cancel mine on line, but I could not find a link (suprise, suprise). I guess I have to press the button (for only the second time) and tell them to shut it off? I do not have a credit card on record with them, so I'm not sure how they could come after me for more money if I don't call them. It was funny; on the OnStar page, it showed that my XM subscription runs out in 2018. I have lifetime XM. How can it run out? I've sent a message to XM asking this very question.
I got the same offer when I called to cancel about a month ago. I declined because all I want from them is the phone feature but they won't offer it by itself. When I told him I didn't want the offer, he told me that if I declined I could never qualify for that price again OH NO! Regret and remorse have filled my days ever since! For me, it's not worth it to pay for the service. That GPS locator would be cool, but really, if someone wants to take it that bad they can have it and I'll go through the auto insurance we're already forced to pay.
