Hello All,Just found this forum, very cool. I've done a search for the solenoid problem and got some answers. Will this damage my transmission if I drive with it in this condition? Not for a long time, maybe a week or 2. thanksReburg

I don't know. Probably not, because I expect serious issues to cause the CEL to blink, but go easy on it till you get it fixed soon

I have fixed a number of Vibes with this code. If you are still within the 8 years/80,000 it would be under warranty, as you will need a PCM to correct. Joe,We have contacted the dealership where we bought the car new, Ramsey Pontiac in Urbandale, Iowa, and provided them with all the information you listed (codes, #'s, etc) for the P2716 error code on our 2005 Vibe. They are denying anything has been publshied (bulletins?) from Pontiac and refuse to help us. Is there a way of getting a copy of this bulletin or where do you suggest we go next? im at 91k miles with the same issue. im way over the warranty miles. i have had the same issue for a while though.

I took mine to the dealer to have them verify that it is the PCM and it was. They wanted $358+tax for the PCM and $75 to install and program the unit. I ordered a new one from gmpartsgiant.com for $241 with shipping. Just call them and give them your VIN# and they can look up the correct part number for you but you have to order online to get the discounted price. The GM part number for my PCM is (19205290).

We did get it fixed. We took it to another Pontiac dealership as the dealership we bought it new from and have always taken it for service said there's was no "service bulletin". It cost us a little over $1,000. They replaced one part for the $1,000 and "rolled back" the mileage to fix the other part affected as we have 87k miles on it or else it would have cost hundreds more. It's running ok again, although I can tell just slightly the shifting is not what is was before. I love my Vibe and hope the transmission wasn't permanently affected by all this.

What part did they replace for $1000?

did they really replace the PCM and it came out to $1000?? verify please

We had our 2005 Vibe (55,700 miles) checked at one auto shop where we found out about what the code was about. Of course, because of the work involved, our shop recommended taking it into the dealer if we had a warranty.With warranty, the insurance company wanted us to bring it in to the orig. dealer and they can do their diag. Our's charges $150 (covered by warranty insurance if it is transmission related) and it's a process that took six hours or so and found out that it will be a 3-day job (1 day diag, ordering parts and will arrive and be fixed on the third day) and because it's considered a minor 1-day repair, insurance won't give us a rental. I posted my recent solenoid experience on another thread:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=31318But yeah, it's a $1,000 job (read of others being charged more) but I'm seeing others have similar GM ext. warranty of up to 77,000 miles and insurance willing to pay up to $1,000. Bare in mind, we paid an additional $166 for the transmission filter which warranty would not cover.

Oh boy! My car has now been in the shop since last Monday. It took a while for the Solenoid to come in and guess what....After replacing everything, they did a test drive and the check engine light was on and they found out it was the PCM. The PCM is now being replaced as I type this. Man, I hope this fixes the problem. They said the PCM is covered under warranty. Man, this is becoming a bit problematic.

It will work. I just replaced my PCM myself about a month ago and the car runs great. The check engine light is still on but it only reads (missing/mismatched VIN number) I'm just to cheap to pay a dealer $75 to program the VIN number into the new PCM. Sorry you spent all that money for nothing, maybe they will refund it to you since they replaced a bunch parts that weren't needed.
