Another collision

Great just what I needed. I was waiting to make a left at a busy intersection. The light turned amber and I saw the approaching car slow down so I figured it was OK to proceed, then he changed his mind and sped up! I braked part way into the turn but he still grazed me.The damage is superficial, the upper and lower bumper cover is scratched/gouged up.

The head lamp seems to be protruding out a bit as well.

I heard the advertisement for the Micropaint system repairs and they can do superficial damage in hours for quite a bit less. I got a quote from them to refinish the bumper covers for $559.13CAN They can do it for less because they don't remove body panels or replace parts. Then I went to a body shop and they quoted $1383.85CAN this includes labor for removing the covers and headlamp, refinishing the covers and replacing the foam impact absorber ($187.50), and the arrowhead emblem ($51.45)Since insurance rules left hand turn impacts as a driver error on my part I think I might try to go for Micropaint repair. Especially since my insurance deductible is $500 it'll be better I cover the cost of the repair myself.I can always remove the headlamp to see if I can adjust it back to proper position, and I doubt the foam impact absorber has damage.

Well not much to settle as my insurance already ruled I was at fault. Now either I go through insurance to have them cover the repair or I try to do it on my own.So I think I'll probably repair the damage outside of insurance as it's not much more than the deductible and that shouldn't impact my rates as negatively.

Well some good news, the styrofoam impact absorber is intact so that's about $200 I saved.

These are the guys who did the work: http://micropaint.ca/I removed the bumper covers because I wanted to try to reposition the headlamp. While they were off, I thought it would be easier for them to work on, but not really. They've repaired the scratches and the crack, then painted and wet sanded. They can't do a final polish until the bumper covers are on the vehicle so that will be sometime next weekBut here's what it looks like after re-assembly:
