Do you see lots of 2009 Vibes on the road?

I live in the Quebec City, QC era in Quebec, Canada and it seems I'm seeing more an more 2009 Vibes (new generation) lately on the road. But I've been on a short trip to the USA this week. In 3 days in New Hampshire around Concord, Manchester, Hampton Beach, Portsmouth and the likes, I saw absolutely NO 2009 Vibes. I think I may have seem one "older" one. I did see two 2009 Matrixes. If it's a common pattern in all the USA ( I didn't see much more 2009 Vibes in my latest trips in the NY state either), that would mean that the new Vibe didn't sell really well so far, even worse than I thought. And it's sad cause it's a great car for me so far. I just reached 30,000 km during that trip.

Here in metro-Detroit I'm seeing a fair number of newer Vibes but they still don't outnumber the 2003-2008 models I see around here. I see a couple every day on the way and from work. In face, I see the same dark blue one a couple times a week. It's got some nice dark tint with the weathertech vents on the windows. I always seem him in the 14 mile and Utica Road area in Fraser. However, the 2009 are becoming much more popular around here.

I frequently take the bus from Flint to Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt. Pleasant and watch for Vibes along the way (about 180 miles round trip). I haven't seen a new generation Vibe during the last several trips, although I did see several older ones. Maybe people are like me and waiting (hoping?) for big discounts to kick in.

in my 7 months of owning the vibe i've seen a total of 3 other 09 vibe GT and around 7-8 non GT ones. I've seen some first gen vibes as well. It's still pretty rare around here which i kinda like. it's pretty cool to drive a car not many people have lol but yeah i think people are missing out, the vibe is such a great little car but i think because of the pontiac badge it's not that popular =/

There are plenty of them around here in southern ontario. On any given day I'll see anywhere from a couple to nearly a dozen. This area has a lot of auto industry workers so we have a higher precentage of domestic cars and trucks on the road than most areas I would imagine.

Lot's of new Vibes. And I'm looking forward to having a second one in my driveway in the coming years.

yes, more than the original gen. they still look incredibly awkward to me.

It may, but as one who owns both, it is far superior in almost every way, especially in the handling; that stands out the most. The 09 and now 10 are more mazda-like to drive than the original Vibe.

I find it interesting you saying your '09 is superior in "almost every way". Seriously, in what ways is my '03 superior to your '09?

Seriously, in what ways is my '03 superior to your '09?besides looks/styling? honestly, it could handle like a ferrari, i still dont think id ever replace my 05 with one.but lets not fight about it. we're all presumably happy with what we have.

well, I'm glad you asked the question the way you did, since it would take 30 minutes for me to construct an e-mail as to why the 09 is better than the first generation. Your's is better in that it is 1 inch longer. Since I have the 1.8 liter on both, your and my 03 is better because it has a vertical oil filter instead of the horizontal cannister which should make my life more messy when I change the oil. Our 03 does not have the stupid onstar rear view mirror. I won't be renewing onstar so I have to live with 3 worthless buttons for the next decade. Although, that last one is a wash, since the 03 has the map light switches on the mirror which is very stupid. The lights end up getting turned on every time you put a windshield shade up and hit the little barbie like on/off buttons. That's it. The rest belongs to the new generation in every way.

Thanks for that info. We all have different likes and dislikes about cars, and the things you mention - especially changing oil (which I no longer do) - don't really matter to me.The funny-looking automatic shift lever seems to be a step back, but I'd probably get used to it.

Agreed Houston. I did not mention the shifter because, although I don't particularly like the zigzag thing and the fact that you can easily knock the shift lever over into 3rd gear (very dumb design), I still though it looked more modern and also did not have the overdrive off button, which while a good idea and a must for anyone owning the 1.8 liter first generation vibe, was THANKFULLY taken care of with the new transmission tweaking on the newest generation vibe. Again, with Pontiac gone, I look forward to our cars' value tanking!! That will allow me to pick up a used 09 or 10 for a song and replace the 03 whenever it dies.

The '09's are becoming pretty prevalent out here now. I saw one the other day with a pretty sharp custom paint job (lower half was a shade of orange and the top half was bright white). Might have just been one of those custom jobs that Pontiac recently offered, but it looked pretty good.

I live in the far southwestern suburbs of Chicago and I have only seen a handful of '09 Vibes around since they started selling them last year. I have seen three black GTs (two were out of town), one silver GT (out of town), one white base, one silver base and one black base. The black base had dealer plates, so it was probably a loaner or something which doesn't really count .Within the next few weeks my mom is going to be buying a brand new '09 GT in steel blue metallic so there will be a second one in our driveway and cruising around town.I am really surprised that more people don't have them, but than again, like lowincash said, I like driving a vehicle that is kind of rare on the roads.

The 2009's certainly seem to be quite popular around Southern Ontario. I expect it's largely due to the more reasonable pricing than the original generation had when they were released. Also - now people are more familiar with the name and it's reliable ancestry - together with more standard safety features and a lower price - it seems to be adding up to plenty of sales.I was on the highway the other day, when at one point there were 3 of us close together with 2009's. Whenever I visit my brother - there are twins in the driveway - both white 1SB with 2.4's. The only difference is the transmission (auto in mine, manual in his).I do see lots of previous generation ones around too - but in this area Matrix's seem to outnumber those Vibes. Maybe because they're built about an hour from here - people feel they're supporting their local economy or something. Interestingly though - anybody I know that has a previous generation Matrix prefers the '09 Vibe over the '09 Matrix for styling. I'd have to agree with them - but then again, I'm probably a bit biased...John
