In Wall St Jrl today they mentioned http://www.truecar.com that supposedly reports actual prices paid for various cars. It is a work in progress but somewhat interesting. One problem I see is that most deals involve a trade in and often the dealer invoice lists the new car at full msrp and then relects the discount by inflating the stated trade-in value.I had a neighbor years ago that traded cars every few years. I would like to have bought his low mileage old car for what the dealer was giving him but he thought his car was actually worth what the paperwork said - dealer was charging him full msrp and then rolling the new car discount in to the trade in allowance.
