Hey y'all.I have a 2003 5 speed manual with a storage compartment that sits below the shift column..I used it to hold my cellphone in the event of an accident I would know where to find it.One day I reached in to retrieve my phone and the drawer fell out! I was able to pop the drawer back in but it now would onl yopen if I push the release button AND pull the drawer open at the same time.Took it to Robinson Pontiac in Guelph and they said it should just pop in. They got the same result I did. The tech even commented that no parts were worn or broken so he didn't know why it wouldn't work right. They said I coould try pulling the metal clip forward more, and if i broke it then they'd take the center column out and look at it..I really don't want to have to create $100+ repairs to my car for a part they say should work no problem..If you're not sure of the part I'm talking about I can try & get an image of it..Thanx!

Heres how i fixed mine. I took 2 quarters and taped them under the bin so they hold it up and it didnt come out on its own anymore. There was never any real fix for it. so even if they get a new holder it will still do that.

I would love if it came out on its own..GM has a procedure for fixing that, but my problem is it won't open..

There's something with the metal clip & the rubber stopper behind the bin that pushes the bin open, but the tech doesn't know how it's supposed to sit or work...he didn't even know what part I was talking about & it took the parts counter 10 minutes to find the schematics for it but even he didn't know what to make of it.. :/
