How long did your original Goodyear tires last?

I have the original Goodyear tires with only 32,000 miles (later this year will be 3 years) and there's not much meat left on them (all even wear, no alignment/underinflated/overinflated wear patterns whatsoever, just wearing down...but so soon?!) I had the original Firestones on my old Grand Am for years before having to replace them.

Mine lasted long enough to get to the tire shop and buy some decent tires. RSA's BAD.

I got about 20k out of mine - well, out of the front tires. I never rotated due to a bubble in the driver's rear... so I probably would have gotten 30-40k before replacing them had I rotated. They only have a 260 treadwear rating, not very high - so good, Goodyear doesn't even list the warranty on their website My father also had them on his Mazda 3. He got 18k with rotations before they were done.Aside from having to pay for them, I am really happy to be rid of the RSAs...

I thought I remember seeing them rated at 40,000 miles.

I already had them rotated once. Thanks everybody...(adds a set of new tires to "to do" list. Doh!) Maybe I'll start saving up for a set of rims too while I'm at it.

The older of our Vibes has a little over 40K on the original tires. They still look decent but I was planning on replacing them before the next winter (that Vibe lives in WI so it does see a real winter).

I have commented many times that auto companies are leaving money on the table by not offering better tires as an "option". Perhaps they get these original equipment tires for so little that they would have to charge about as much for upgrades as you could buy a new set for later - I don't know.

...the 'factory' Eagles on my 2009 Vibe only have 10/32's tread depth (rather than 11/32's)...per my local Goodyear dealer!

I'm with Raven on this one. RSA was just OK at best, but not a good rain tire at all. The sidewalls are so soft that it made my Vibe directionally challenged.HPL... get a set of alloy wheels and a good set of tires and you'll feel the difference right away. It'll only make your car more fun and safer to drive. Win/win.

Hi,I got about 40,000 out of them. My problem was something went bad and the car had a horrible road noise situation. Ended up replacing all 4 tires and the car is much smoother and quieter. I agree, not at all happy with the original tire!! I got better Goodyears with an 80'000 mile wear out rating and an 8 on road noise. The new tires did great this past winter which was a tad harsher than previous ones were.Dave

I got 80,000 miles on mine. But as you know, I'm special. The tread was just a hair above the wear indicators when I replaced the. I think I rotated them twice.

Mine "died" from "tire rot", and the stealership sucker me out of $120/tire for two replacements. The other two tires lasted another year before they too apparently got tire rot. So, now I got a miss-matched set of tires on the car. Probably will replace in the fall so I have a nice new set of tires for the winter.

I must say though that as "lousy" as these tires are purported to be, they keep going and going and going and....Goodyear RSA's are like Fram Oil Filters. Very few people like them but they're still selling plenty of 'em!!!

I got about 35K on mine but that was only after I only got about 15K on the conti's.Both are horrible but the Conti's were far worse.

I replaced my factories ('06 Vibe) at around 42k....but I do NOT recommend waiting that long. It gotpretty hairy on a few instances....I was a little rough on them too though. Also, I rotate every 10,000 miles...so i rotated those guys 4 times.

Replacing mine this week. 2006-37,000 miles. Local tire dealer said he was surprised I got that much out of them. Said he has replaced several at around 25,000.

34k on mine. I've rotated them regularly and they look to be in need of replacement. I'm hoping to squeeze 40k out of them but I think I may get a little nervous and go ahead and change them out before the winter.

Just hit 50k this week with my stock tires. I'll be doing a x-country trip in June, so I might need to replace them soon... Tread wear seems good and even. I have them rotated about every 10k... or every other oil change...Can't wait to get new tires, though... these things are scary in the rain! They always have been, though...

You're very special! TWO rotations in 80,000 miles? Maybe I should follow that formula, I generally get half that rotating every 6,000 miles. Rotate - yep, them tires rotate all the time when the car moves, I reckon.

The set of four Goodyear Comfortreds that were on my car when I bought it in Jan08 lasted 42,728 miles before I replaced them in Nov08 w/ about 3/32" of tread left. According the previous owner's maintenance records, the OEM Goodyear Eagles were replaced at 35,000 miles by the Comfortreds.

After 15,000 miles they were at 3/32 of tread. I rotated every 6k. This was under very spirited driving.

I'm purposely beating the crud out of my GYE RSAs. I have no intention of going through a second winter with them. We had little to no snow here in the Delta Quadrant this past winter. I just rotated them myself and will leave them where they roll until November, when (and you are absolutely dead on silvrhawk7) I too will get the Michelin Primacy MXV4's at Costco. The Primacy's appear to be liked by many, many drivers. I think the GYE RSAs have been excellent on dry pavement, and very good on wet. In the snow, they are a bit troublesome, as reported by you all and many tirerack customers.

My gf tried to jump a curb yesterday and the result was a flat tire on a friday, at 17:00, in down-town traffic.... Joy Oh Joy! I replaced the flat with the spare tire and drove to the nearest CanadianTires which was the only place still opened at 18:00 on a friday (took a while to find a spot where I was able to change a tire in traffic). After only 1 year and about 12,000km on them, my Eagle RS-A are almost 50% dead. Which means I needed to buy 2 new tires. The clerk told me Eagle-RSA were 267$ CAD each... I passed up on this "golden" opportunity. I got some General Exclaim UHP on sale for 122$ each which was a pretty sweet deal. Since I still have 2 god horrible Eagle RS-A at the back which are 50% dead, I did not want to put 2 too good tires at the front. I would be like having 2 winter tires and 2 all seasons tires during winter... a catastrophe waiting to happen. Even with only 2 new tires at the front I can feel the difference as the front rides smoother. Also these tires are not designed to catch every little rock and pebble in its thread which helps on the noise level. The downside to these tires is that they are known to wear-up prematuraly... although I doubt they can do it as quickly as my RS-A.

...anybody else notice in their Vibe Owners Manual how GM now recommends that the tires only be rotated front-to-back and not "crossed-front-to-back"?...that sounds like they've discovered (what long-haul truckers have known all along) that tires take a "rotational SET" and want to go only that way after they've been "broken-in"...so that "crossing" them actually caused the tires to wearout MUCH faster than normal, due to repeated forward rotation to backward rotation changes slowly "breaking down" the rubber-to-steel bondings.

I'm at 57K miles and ready to replace at 2/32. Funny thing is I looked back at my records and they were 4/32 in 2006 at like 32K miles. About 15 months ago I inflated them with nitrogen which made them run smoother. I'm looking for a different tire when I replace - while the traction on these was great, the ride was rough.

Part of it is not rotating as frequently as we do with replacement tires. The front tires wear faster. I always get replacement tires with a free balance package and take better care of emI don't believe new OEM tires are built for longevity ......
