ok so , i know there is a thread that deals with replacing the bule things behind the screen, i read it through and through, but i am just wondering if i should try and repair it or just buy new deck, what would be the price of fixing the stock screen, what would be the price of purchasing a used screen, and finally is it just better and more worth the effort to go aftermarket. My dad wants to fix it, but i want a new one.. you know the whole money saving aspect.....

Unless you repair it youself it is definately not worth doing. The repair bill would be more than a good aftermarket deck. You can't buy just the screen. You could buy a used deck but it too will soon burn out.

is it just the LED's that are out? You could check ebay and a salvage yard for a stock headunit.

I would get an oem replacement from ebay. That will be the least costly and the least amount of headache.

Print out the instructions on how to replace the bulbs, give them to dad and tell him "Here is how to fix it for just a few dollars, and with the money I've just saved us, can we do a CAI?"

well, if you owe a bunch onthe car , it will be a hard sell. I can tell you first hand, a parent is reluctant to upgrade a sound system in a car for a new driver. He doesn't want you to get distracted with loud tunes when you should be fully concentrating on not breaking the first rule of driving. A vibe is a pretty cool car for a 16 year old to have, so be grateful for that. the 1st rule is "Don't hit anything". All the other rules derive from that.

my system will come first, I am HUGE into car audio, and am kinda a self taught car audio geek person, i know the best of the best and hopw to hook everything up perfectly, and where to get the best deals, so if anyone has any questions i can try and help. I want the best, who doesnt? i am planning on having the best system at school. ill be rocking 2 15 inch alpine type rs (2000 watts max 1500 rms) and and an amp for each sub, my HU will be Alpine as well. My amps will be two hifonics (1600 watts each), all wired together with a Rockford Fosgate wiring kit.

you should talk with sublime, he is a audio nut as well. I had subs in high school, then once I got into more racing I needed to lighten my car haha so as long as I can hear music I'm good.
