Well it's about time. Looks real nice Scott. I see you still have your Injen CAI installed.

Looking real good, Scott!! I would keep the CAI and not hook up the RAM. You'll lose power.

I'm keeping the shortened Injen because the opening on the bottom of the R/A hood is directly above the filter. So now, my shortened Injen is, again, a CAI since it will be getting outside air fed from the hood.Any real Ram Air effect from the hood into the factory box would be minimal are speeds below 100-mph so I'm not really losing anything. As far as the S/C goes, I will try to use the shortened Injen. If that doesn't work, I will re-install the factory box and hook up the full ram air effect. Can someone with a GT who has installed a CAI take a picture of the inside of the factory box? The inside of both the upper and lower halfs. I know the boxes are different (because the GT has an vaccuum activated extra 'window' to allow more air in) but I don't know what they look like.Thanks.

Thanks Rasormon, that's answers alot of my questions about the SLP Ram Air modifications to the factory box. The top portion of your box is as I expected. The white "air straightener" is much shorter in the GT lid than in the base lid. I believe SLP only looked at the GT when they designed the system. You are supposed to cut a 3" hole in that "dome" on top of the lid and insert a rubber bellows that has a small cone filter on the end. The open end of the bellows touches the opening in the bottom of the hood. Air then enters the factory air box from the hood, through the bellows and then through the filter (inside out). The factory filter is removed. That means you have to block the factory inlet. This would work for a GT but the base lid has a longer air straightener that blocks where the hole needs to be drilled in the lid.GT lid:Base lid:

Scott, Is there a plug that fits in the lower air box housing so your not drawing air through the front plastic air tube near the headlight area.

I'm wondering of the factory filter stays in the GT box? It might. It's possible that the filter on the bellows fits above the factory filter in the top half of the stock air box.

quote:couldnt you just swap that white plastic piece with a gt's or take it off all together? That's what I was thinking too. Scott, perhaps you and rasermon should compare the part numbers of the top half of the air boxes (I'm assuming the number is molded into the plastic somewhere).BTW, Looks very nice Scott!"Seeing" the actual product makes me even more tempted to buy one!I noticed what appeared to be three small holes on the underside of the hood just before where it'd meet with the airbox. Are those intended to allow any water out of the system in case of rain being pulled in, or is that addressed some other way?

quote:couldnt you just swap that white plastic piece with a gt'sI wish it were that simple. Look closely at the two pics. you will see the white air straightener attaches differently:GT lid:Base lid:If I were to remove the Injen intake and go back to the factory box, I would probably purchase a GT box from either someone here who replaced theirs with a CAI (and is willing to sell theirs) or from a junkyard.

Are you sure the GT box will fit the base engine? They are not designed the same way, so may be they won't fit.BTW' very nice car Nova. Looks very good. I called SLP to get one. The gelcoated hood is $1200 cnd, so I think I won't buy one, unless I win to the Lottery

quote:Are you sure the GT box will fit the base engine? They are not designed the same way, so may be they won't fit.I fairly sure it will fit. Looking at the pics rasermon posted, they mount in the car the same way. About the only difference would be the S-shaped hose that connects the box to the throttle body (it does appear different). However, I sure I could use the base hose to connect the GT box to the base engine. I actually think the GT top half might fit the base lower half.

They looks simlar. If you can get a GT box and try it, go ahead and let us know.BTW, there's no way to cut the base lid to fit with the RAM hood?

. i just looked at my box and that white thing is easy to remove. however it doesnt seem as if both filters will fit in the box. im surprised that it didnt come with a plug for the lower hole because left open you could suck up dirt. heres what im thinking find a way to put the filter where the white thing is now you can suck air from two directions and plug one or the other when necessary ie: raining or winter.

I took some measurements of my air box top section. Not sure if you need this info. I was bored and enjoy using my CAD program.

Those are the exact same dimentions as the base top. I'm about 99% sure the GT top will fit the base lower half, especially because the GT and the base use the exact same filter element.
