OK, quick question. Whats the max depth that the fron speakers can be. I want to make sure I don't buy anything too deep. Also do you need the plastic ring thats on the factory speakers to make it fit properly? Thanks.

Cool thanks, I did run a search but must have missed that one. Got another question now. Sort of a placement/preference question. I have a set of Kenwood KFC-1677 speakers and and considering getting either the Kenwood Excelon KFC-XR601 or KFC-X168 speakers. Question is which should I get and which set should go in the front and which go in the rear or does it really even matter. All the speaker specs are listed at http://www.kenwoodusa.com/product/produ ... tTypeId=44 . Any recommendations would be appreciated.

If you use the stock speaker "shell" you'll need a speaker with a max mounting depth of 2 5/16th in. for the front. The rear can take a speaker with over 3 1/2" depth. My fronts are 165mm (6 3/4") and rears are 6 1/2. Here's a link to some pics of my speaker install if you are going to do it yourself.: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=785

I know the general word is that 2-5/16" depth is the norm for the front speakers but could 2.5" depth speakers fit also? I'm looking at some JBL midbrange speakers and want to see if they fit. Thanks.

You may be able to put an additional 1/4" spacer in there to pull the speaker out a little further, but then the door shell may not fit right.
