Four More!

I'm SO excited--just looking at my bank statement for my auto loan, and I think I have like 4 more payments and my car is PAID OFF!! I've never NOT had a car payment before and I'm so excited. I have 44,460 miles on the car right now and it'll be paid off in just a few short months. What a GOOD feeling that is! Then I'll be able to put that extra money towards other bills and try and get that *$#! paid down so I can QUIT my part-time job! I think I have a new attitude about it all...before I could never see a light at the end of the tunnel so I just kept buying stuff because I figured I'd always be in debt. Now I can see a dim light so it sort of gives me the energy to work harder because it CAN be done!Sorry...just had to share my excitement with someone.

Sweet. I remember when I paid off mine (also sold it to do so) but it felt good.

Debt free makes for a better night's sleep. I do a lot of tax work and see many retired people with big mortgages. Those monthly payments really put a crimp in your lifestyle. Over the years I have advised people that receive a windfall (like an inheritance) to pay off their mortgage. Unfortunately most have not following my advice - somehow they think spending $1 on interest to save 25 cents on taxes is a good deal. Then there are those who think they are better off investing the money in the stock market. Right - that worked out well didn't it!

That's excellent, congratulations. And with just 44K miles your Vibe has lots of life. Sounds like a good plan, get the other stuff paid off first. Keep the Vibe, take good care of it, keep saving and maybe you can pay cash for the next car!

Good to hear!our 3 year loan is up November this year, just paid off a smallish personal loan early last month, and should have my ancient (1995-98 vintage) student loans paid off this year or early next year. CCs have been getting lower, should start to make a bigger dent once the Vibe is done. Hopefully getting all that done should bump me past the 800 mark credit score wise (around 725-750 currently).Being debt-free is a great goal to work towards.
