Anyone have the actual diagnostic steps for this from the shop manual?I hooked up my scantool and monitored/graphed o2 output. Looks normal during driving but not what I expected during idle. Sometimes it was flat for a few seconds. I thought I read somewhere that this condition is actually monitored and set during idle, in which case I think that's where the problem is.Also, should this be covered under the emissions warrantee (8yrs?) since mine is an '04?Thanks!

I don't think the warranty will cover it. Has the light come on repeatedly after being reset? You don't state your mileage but if you're up around 70-80,000 miles most likely you're due for an 02 sensor anyways.

I reset it once already, came back on in about a week.The mileage is around 50k.

Since I posted my last message in January to thread "Check Eng Light (P0133) "O2 Sensor Circuit Slow Response", the P0133 code popped three more times. It's been very cold since January 1st, so I guess I should expect some issues w/ my O2 sensor(s), especially since my '04 Vibe is closing in on 80K miles.I probably won't make a replacement until the weather gets warmer, but I'd like to start getting a read on which brands/types are more reliable. I've seen in some other threads where the Bosch universal sensors have had problems. Does anyone have any personal experience that they can pass along?

I think the cold is affecting mine too. It's been a lot warmer lately and it looks like it's working OK again.I have used Bosch 'direct' replacements on other cars and never had any issue. But, I do remember reading somewhere that it's not recommended to use the 'universal replacement' types. I think this is due to the fact that these things work off such a low signal level that it's very easy to have that signal get affected by outside sources by splicing wires, bad crimping on connectors, etc. YMMV.I looked around for a direct replacement and found something interesting. The direct replacement from the auto parts stores (Bosch and various others) were around $125 IIRC. From GM it was even more. The stock one (from Toyota mail-order places) was something like $97. That being the case, if it does happen again I'm just ordering the Toyota part.

84 replys= i,m getting Po171 and Po133. searched around and found huge duscussion with 84 replys on toyotanation. tsb says "recalibration 'of computer in some cases. usually caused by "sub-zero"temps. usually symtom is "cel" and irratic idle. the guys mentioned emmissions warranty covers them for 80,000 milkes or ??years ?? one guy had to have cat converter replaced. cost=$1200.,but warrany coverd it. my 2004 non-turbo,automatic tranny,fwd, has "cel" and nothing else observed. codes supplied at a/z. please advise if you cure the problem .

codePo133 sensor=??? which o2 sensor usually goes out. is it the forward sensor. is it "asp? or asf?? thanks for any info. jamesmetairie@yahoo.com

PO133 would be the first O2 sensor, the one in the exhaust manifold.

I just got an 02 sensor code when I took my car out the other day. Its the only time the car has been out this winter, and the car only has 13,000 miles. I reset it and it better not come back.

I bought my '04 in Jan 2008 and wasn't expecting any warranty protection at this point. Are you saying that this P0133 code could symptamatic of a warrantied issue? While I'm on the subject, what exactly can I expect to be warrantied on my '04? Like I said earlier, it has approx. 79,900 miles.

I want to replace it myself but am not sure how to go about taking it apart. I'm about to just start taking the thing apart but I have to drive it. Anyone know of a how to for this sensor. Well I replaced my O2 sensor with a BOSCH 15309 sensor(no splicing) last spring and my CEL just came back on this week. I've only driven the car 5-10k since it was installed. I'm getting a p0133 but it seems to only appear when it's cold outside. The weather warmed up and it went away and now it's back(rainy and colder). I have about 105,000 miles on an 04 AWD Vibe. What should I do now?

Replace it again, but try a diffrent brand. Did the bosch come with any type of warranty?

No idea. I just can't believe that the sensor would go bad this fast. I'm almost wondering if it's an exhaust leak since it only happens when the temperature drops.

Ive actually had the same error code but i think its nothing to worry about. it only happens when its really cold and goes away very quick. maybe cold temps+sri/cai????
