I need to read the manual to see what might be the problem - when I attempt to set the far left circular control so all the air comes out of the upper level vents it won't go there. I don't want to force it.

Warranty Issue?

The temp and vent direction controls still appear to be cable-operated so my guess is the vent cable is misadjusted, in a bind, or the door isn't operating correctly... Definitely a warranty issue. Unless you feel like crawling under the dash. When they get out of whack it's fun to try to get them back the way they need to be.

It's one to break on its own but for it to have that glaring of a defect from the factory is nuts. Don't they have people that flip through all the controls to make sure things work before loading the thing on a truck? Hope you can get it fixed! And I'm envious of your low mileage - 9 miles and you've had it how long?

I think I have the same problem as you. I can't turn mine all the way counter-clockwise without a little extra force to get it to the last spot. It kind of sticks just before there. I can't remember off-hand if that is the upper-level vents setting though. Mine's been like that since I got the car a few months ago. Never bothered to take it in.

I have no concern about getting it fixed - just a pain and I am kind of busy with my part-time legal/.tax practice at the moment. As for the low mileage - I got it late Jan. 12th - but I drove the '03 with the FOR SALE signs in the windows as I was trying to sell it. Then, the weather got bad the week of 1/26. The '09 was outside and iced up. I had to carefully remove what snow and ice I could, then started the engine and ran the heater for almost 2 hours last weekend to get the rest thawed as the buyer was picking up the '03 on Monday. Aside from that - we don't put many miles on our cars - drove the '03 about 3,000 miles last year. No miles to work helps.
