Airbag readiness light flashing

Great info here..thanks for the resource.My wife has an 03 Vibe..with 85,000 mies on since new. It has been an excellent vehicle.This was the second Vibe sold in Tucson..actually had to wait a few days before GM allowed delivery. ( I have friends in the biz) The only major repair has been a replaced MOTOR.!Insurance adjuster took sample of oil when motor started to knock..as we found car at high school (I coach basball) with fuel door open.Next day rod knock. Oil level was full..but oil (1500 miles on change) was like paste.High levels of contaminated chemicals..and silca. Car was vandalized..motor replaced with 20K used 03 motor.I mention all this as it might have some relavance to the issue.Motor replaced at a exotic car restoration shop ( a friends..I do classic sports cars..and modifieds), about 20,000 miles ago.My problem.At some point, I am not in my wife's car a lot, the SRS Airbag readiness light started to flash. Wife mentions it "has been doing that awhile). Also lights on shift (auto) are somewhat intermitent.In inspecting under hood there is a wire unconnected. A black shielded cable (wire inside) with a accordion type cover that might have had a connector.I have not been able to find where or what it is. The dealer is idiotic..wants $100 to use a scan tool. I scanned several times..NO CODES.I can take a picture of wire.This may have been an issue of motor being installed by company not familar with the Vibe (yet does Ferrari..custom cars..Lambos..a real Toy Store). Wire may also have been pack rat food..as I live out side of town in the foothills..we got pack rats..and mountain lions..bobcats..etc.I ask here as I can see the knowledge base here is quite better than what I see a dealer.PS..I managed auto dealerships for 15 years..so I know some of the BS. (PS..I'm nice now..been out of the biz for 15 years..!)So..Any ideas on the flashing SRS..and might it be that cabled wire ?Really appreciate the help. We have one dealer here..not very helpful..and I managed one of the Toyota dealer...who fires the competent to hire newbs. The other is..not for humans. Thanks for any help..Docc
