Hello all, I am currently looking for another vibe for my mother. I found this one on kijii http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-car...94734The price seemed to goodI got the vin and told the person I wanted to run a check before I came to see it. Thats when they told me that the pasanger front door was changed. so I ran the vin and found out it was a salvaged car that had $21,000 damage. Thats one expensive door So I thought if it was anyones car here they would be interested to see it in one piece again.

I think in many states here a dealer has an obligation to disclose a past salvage title.

Furthermore, how was there anything left of the car if there was $21,000 in damage? If it was a loaded out AWD you'd still only have about $2K left for the total sticker price of the car.I'm thinking the $21K was an inflated estimate...which I'm sure happens a lot.

It may be inflated but i'm sure alot of that cost was labour and new parts.

I remember reading once that on a $20,000 car the parts purchased separately would be about $50,000 - and then you would have to assemble (and for some, paint) them. So that $20,000 car is a real bargain!

Wife just got her vibe back after a minor scrape where another car turned into the side of her. Cost almost $7000 in repair. Crazy that it was all cosmetic, and there was nothing structural. The car is an 03 and not worth more than $10K.Parts and molding is crazy expensive.

I just had $4000 in very very minor (but extensive) storm damage to my vgt. Half of that was for replacement of 4 pieces of plastic cladding. The other half was to repaint the entire roof, hood, bumper and front fenders and replace the windshield. It blew my mind how quickly body shop repairs added up. To look at the car from a distance, you would've never known that it was damaged at all.as a side note, I skipped replacing the cladding. ridiculous to spend $2000 on some molded plastic.
