Seriously, how do you roll over a car/SUV. It obviously can't be that hard. There is snow on the ground, your maybe doing 30-40 tops! How! I passed two today on the parkway on my way to work, took me 2 hours to drive 25 miles! And my cousin saw another up near his house on his way in. So that is 3 in a 40 miles span of highway. The ground was barely covered and none of the accidents were on my southbound side. Yet we still crawled, literally. I practically fell asleep. Now I'm at work till 5, what a crap day. If you can't drive in the snow then MOVE somewhere warmer. They get their big SUVs and think they can own the world so they fly cause they have AWD or 4WD. Morons!!

I've seen several rollovers this winter. The main cause always seems to be overreacting to a situation. Slam on the brakes, jerk the wheel and spin out of control. It actually happened to a snow plow last week on the Thruway, flipped it right over. I agree with you, if you can't drive in it, move to a warmer climate.

I understand that people sometimes don't have the option, but they should prepare better. Maybe late at night in weather take the car out to a parking lot and see what it can do and can't do. Then you can have a better feel. I know my car and have never had an issue, especially in the snow. AWD is a fantastic thing but you gotta use it right. My Matrix has never gotten stuck once.But this year I have seen way more rollovers than I usually do.

That's why they are called "accidents".

One Word: "Black Ice" Does it every time. Two mornings ago when it dropped 20° from the previous morning(0°) we had over 200 accidents with plenty of roll-overs in our metro area due to Black Ice because it was so cold.

you know how many accidents could be avoided if states with snow had MANDATORY "how to drive on ice/snow" in their drivers ed...(removed)

Well the temps here went from -17 to +45 in the course of a week. right now the roads are wet but clear of any ice cause its VERY windy out. But it results in people going 20 mph below the posted speed limit on whats basicly a dry road. My big issue is they drive slow next to each other so I can't get around them.

I think alot of people when they buy a SUV or truck also buy a false sence of safety, They feel ontop of the world, feel very safe, and feel the assurance of 4X4 will save the day. Sur ethe 4X4 still takes off nice because of the added traction, they then feel safe doing normal speeds because of the size of the automobile, but fail to realize that it is still going to take them twice as long to stop when they hit the ice sending them into a panic because they were to confortable driving and not prepared.thats just my opinion and not directed to the responsiable people that own SUV' and trucks.Aron

Morons!!I'll tell you how... that little bit of snow is worse than 2"... why, because as a car rolls over it, it creates friction, it melts the snow, then it almost instantly re-freezes (into black ice)... happens here all the time... I've been on the highway, doing 20 (in a 70) using the auto to downshift, so I didn't have to use the brakes, as they were useless.. and everytime I went into first to slow down more, the car would balk and slide a little... it was THAT slick...
