Wife lost her keys. How do you program a new key fob. Should I get one made at the dealer or get one cut from our spar key? I think I can get a new fob on E-bay

The 0.99 + $4 shipping is cheap for a FOB - even if ti is "used". I bought a new one on eBay in 2003 for about $15 total as I have a reputation for losing those things. That was good insurance against losing mine as I never did.I wonder if those FOBS plus a Lowe's cut key would work for a 2009. I bed those keys with the built in remote cost plenty.

I think they have a security chip in the 09. Even bigger $$$

I got one ground cut at the local hardware store. it is a spare and It works great. I got the fob for 4.99 and will use the instructions above to program it. . Does the other one need reprogramed when I program the new one. Or, can I just program the new one?

Just program the new one and you'll be fine... The Vibe handles I think up to 4 remotes so you'll just be adding another one. The original one you still have will continue to work without any additional steps from you.I had mine set up for 3 remotes -- thought I lost one, so I replaced it and come to find out I later found it. I still have that one, need to program it for Kari's Vibe.

I am hoping my wifes key will show up. It is mostlikely in the snow bank

We have one for me (Toyota one), one for the wife, and 2 extras.

Got the key fob. Used the directions here and it works great. Thanks all.

My 09 doesnt have the security chip. I use a lowes cut key. I might get a separate FOB like the one in the ebay link and try to program for my 09.
