Planning a trip

Trying to plan a ski trip in March, and we're thinking of going down south as a change of pace. Instead of picking a hill blindly, I was hoping to get some input from anybody who's been to any of the following resorts, or any others you'd recommend. Hoping to pick somewhere that's driving distance (1200km) from Calgary, but not completely opposed to flying.

I don't know anything about skiing but I would head on down to the states, you are gonna get the best deals right now.

I'm in Steamboat Springs, CO as we speak. This is my third trip here and it's always been pretty nice. Very good snowfall this year, we had a couple snow days and a couple clear days. The trails are pretty nice, lots of variety, 3' powder, groomed trails, open or forested. My only complaint is that lift ticket prices are higher every year, $91 this year. Ski rentals can be had for $20/day.

The only problem there is that it means flying, and lift tickets are pricier than local mountains before the currency conversion. Still not out of the question though. I've always wanted to check it out in the winter. Should have went there last year when the dollar was $1.10.
