Three main reasons:1) smallest vehicle that could transport our daughter's harp inside,2) $3500 rebate from GM card on top of various other incentives,3) generally trust Toyotas (and they're made locally).

In order of priority:1. Fuel Economy 2. Wagon/hatch body style with folding seats3. 0% financing4. Exceptional deal due to GM rebates and supplier pricing.5. Toyota powertrain6. Made in USA (I was shooting for Canada and the Matrix but they wouldn't even consider dealing)7. StylingWe replaced an aging '97 Chevy Venture so we wanted something with considerably better fuel economy and still be versatile enough to carry just about anything.

1. It had to be a hatchback (practicality)2. Toyota reliability3. 2.4L 158HP with 5auto4. Good looking5. New 09 model had a lot of nice standard features (brakes, airbag, mp3 jack, etc.)6. I hate sedans.... I really do (see #1)7. I couldn't afford an SUV8. Bigger than a Versa, Yaris, Fit and I wasn't going near an Pt Cruiser, Caliber or HHR9. GM offered me 2200$ rebate, Toyota offered me 450$.10. Was almost 2000$ cheaper than a Mazda3.I don't regret my decision

1. Cheaper than a similar equip Corolla/Matrix2. 0% financing 60mths3. my previous car was dying, so I sold it and need another car.4. Test drove Mazda and the dealer suck! No Mazda for me....5. Gf bought 08 Civic and 08 accord uses to much gas6. I like hatchback7. I was able to find a brand new vibe with the equipment I wanted with only 12kms on the vehicle!8. Support GM9. One of the lowest insurance in it's class! Even lower than a Yaris!10. $800 Graduate discount!

thought I would be getting a better deal (lower monthly payments than what I had)better mpg'slower insurance rateTurns out I screwed myself. I had on 05 Cobalt SS/SC. I'm paying $50 more per month than I was, only saved $10 on insurance (which I didn't find out till later bc I was changing companies), and I'm getting the same mpg's as the SS. I know that if I would drive it better, my mileage would be better, but I drive the crap out of the SS and was still getting mid to high 20's!I can't say I'm disappointed in the Vibe, but I def wish I would have kept the SS.

HOnestly I went to the dealr looking to get a 2008 lancer, I could have been approved with a cosigner(had to get one for the vibe anyways) but i also test drove a saturn vue, and 2 vibes(one of which is now mine) and could not resist the latter. So the next day i drove it home

i got the vibe because i have always loved hatchbacks, good fuel economy (family cars i shared were at at 18mpg on good weeks), comfortable as all heck inside, at the time i hadn't seen any around, cargo area is big enough to fit my giant paintball gear bag, sits 5 with enough room, has leg room in back for the tall folks like myself, it looks great in frosty(imo), and the main reason i got it was because the family car was broken and i needed something ASAP to get to work.
