I have been rotating tires on my vehicles every other oil change (conventional motor oil) or every 6,000 to 8,000 miles. I am not going to be able to use the oil change reference very much longer because I am going to switch to a semi or full synthetic motor oil. But the mileage is what I would go by. You can also call a tire chain store like Belle Tire or Discount Tire and they can let you know what they recommend for tire rotations as well.

The manual calls for rotations every 6,000 miles for the short trip schedule, and 7,500 for the long trip/highway maintenance schedule.Mine will be rotated every 6,000 to get as much life out of the tires that I can. Plus, as a thank-you gift, the dealer threw in free rotations for as long as I own the car. So like Salsa said, every other oil change they'll be rotated.
