Dark adventure last night

So last night at work around 7pm, there was some lightning, the lights flicker a little, the A/C unit made noises like it was in pain, then we had no electricity, which never came back on. Which stinks, because thrifty me had planned on taking advantage of all the insane sales after work! The radio kept saying that my area was the only one with power, and I saw my hilltop city lit up as we all crawled past the stadium on the freeway, happy knowing I'd be able to cook the dogs' warm dinner. By the time I got home, it was dark. PFFFFFT. So using the laptop glow, found my way inside the house, being careful not to step on the paws waiting for me behind the door, stumbled around for a flashlight. Found one...empty, but remembered I had fresh new batteries in the TV converter box remote Knowing that wouldn't last very long, turned the house upside down for candles. But the ex (told you he was a pathetic loser) had taken all the lighters and matches when I kicked him out; I had enough laptop charge left to see what was going on on the newspapers' websites: the power plant closest to me had power but lost it at 8:30pm. I also blogged about it until I see the battery is getting low (as was my flashlight batteries!) so I had an idea! I'd use the outlet in the car...took the power cable out to the car, only to find it is a 3 prong and the outlet in the car only has 2!!! Bah. I even tried pulling on the plastic cover to see if the hole for the ground pin was under it Giving up on that, I came back inside and had another idea: the surge protector!! I'd just take it out to the car, connect the laptop to it....Nope. 3-prong! Bah. So we just went to sleep. I woke up really early this morning (way before 7am) to find my kitchen light on. Yay. The East side of the island (this includes where the Obamas are staying) still won't have power for several more hours. So today I'm going to call around to find stores that have electricity and stock up on some sale items!

OOOOOOH....Herb...where do I find that piece? You know...for the NEXT time we get an islandwide blackout? (the last time this happened was the earthquake we had and the time before that was when a gecko crawled into the main circuit box or something...ALLEGEDLY.) It WILL happen again. Grizz...the air conditioning unit at work has given us a lot of trouble. For the life of me can't remember the brand.

i kinda saw that something was without power in passing and i heard the obamas were involved somehow. i thought it was in my area cause he's from illinois and we were in flash flood warnings because we went from 5" of snow and 20*F to 50* and still raining i figured some power lines we downed or something. didn't know it was hawaii. what caused the outage? and i like how you were without power but still blogging. xD as for the plug i use a power inverter that goes into the cigarette lighter. also has the ground plug. and since there are sales(god i hate working retail right now) so by some batteries and candles. or better yet get one of the self powered flash lights. to charge them you turn a crank which charges an internal battery so you never need to get more batteries. hopefully the food in the fridge didn't go bad.

They are "still investigating" but we did have lightning earlier that night. Yep...gotta love internet aircards! I had a bunch of candles...just nothing to light them with because dummy took them. And the food was OK, since I only opened the refrigerator door once for a few seconds to get the dog cookies out and didn't put them back(birdseed and dog snacks are in there to stay bug-free and fresh)

You can find those plugs in the hardware isle in your food store. I have a set sitting in my glove box just in case.

BTW if you get an LED maglight it will last longer as they don't use as much battery power
