Cassette deck problem

I tried searching already because I thought I saw it before on this site. I want to use a cassette adapter for my Ipod, but the tape deck continuously tries to auto reverse the adapter. I thought there was a way to set the tape deck for a "cleaning" mode. That way you can run a cleaner through it without it thinking that the tape is broken. Anyone have any idea about this? Thanks,Andy

Did you install a Toyota Matrix with a Cassette Deck in your Vibe?

Crap, I used to know this because iirc I had to do something with the tape deck in my Malibu to use the cassette adapter so long ago.Does the radio have a tape/aux button? I googled and found a post for someone with a Malibu that says "With the radio off and the ignition on press and hold the TAPE AUX button to disable the tape sensing feature to enable play of some tape head cleaners and portable CD adapters. The radio will display READY and flash the cassette icon. The tight/loose tape sensing feature will then be disabled until the next time a cassette is ejected."So try powering off the radio and pressing/holding whatever button switches to the tape deck... There was something else I remember with powering off the radio and holding down the tape eject button on GM radios, that did something (but I think it may reset the clean indicator.)

I'm allowed to date whoever I want. As long as she doesn't find out. If she does find out I probably won't have a Corvette anymore!Anyway, that trick works, but only for a little while. I guess I'm going to have to wire it in to the antenna when I have a few minutes to pull the radio out. At least at work I can use it in the van I drive.Andy
