does anyone actually like the new Vibes Dashboard? i think they worked to hard ont he outside of the car, which i love, and forgot to take the time to work on that. To me, it looks REALLY cheap. at least the previous modles had chrome. the new one, looks like deathly CHEAP plastic. So what does everybody else here think? or Is it just me?

i agree...it has too many plastic on the dash...i like the look tho but it does feel cheap with all the plastic...but i expected this since it is an economy car and many cars i've tested all had so many damn plastic. doesn't bother me much...only thing that bugs me is that it scratches too easily. i wish it didn't have chrome trim tho, the chrome trim around the air vents sometimes catches the sun when i have my sunroof open and will blind me for a second or so...same goes for the pontiac logo on the steering wheel lol but all in all it's almost what i've expected from an economy car so no complains here

When you look at it against cars that it competes with it isn't bad at all. Chrome rings are nice and all but they can also cause a lot of glare.

I've seen few 09's running around, and the dash pod surrounds look like some sort of bare plastic tan-ish color. Don't know if it's the way light reflects off it or if it is actually the color they used. I first saw this on a new 09 Matrix that I looked at in a showroom. Hope someone is offering some of those fake carbon fiber or brushed aluminum laminates to hide that. Otherwise, the new instrument pods look really good and the dash does seem to have a little more of a hood over displays. I also like the way center portion of the dash containing the radio, HVAC, and shifter was designed. Looks very clean.

the o9s are starting to grow on me a little. especially the gt in black. then it hides the smallish rear hatch window. BUT i agree, i still don't like the dash. can't get used to the oval for the temp/fuel gauge. i like the 1st gen circular pods in chrome.

Yeah, that oval concerns me. It doesn't flow with the rest of the dash which has an ok design. The oval looks like an afterthought. I can see why they didn't want to do the chrome around the gauges again, they received a ton of complaints about them due to glare. But the silver they chose is just dull and lifeless. That, however, does flow with the rest, it fits in with all the other dull gray plastic. But most importantly, the cup holders are suck!

I just got my '09 Fri., so I will need to spend more time with it. I have a Black Vibe with the Ebony interior, so I think this makes the dash look less "cheap". The car kicks a** over the Matrix-period-in looks. Now, if I can just figure out how to add my picture to my postings....
