I've done 3 oil changes so far on my 2009 Vibe (now close to 18,000km). The first 2 times, it was $39.95 plus taxes, total: around $45.Last Monday, I went at the very same place, but the price was jacked to $49 plus taxes, total $56. I asked about that price raise, and they told me it was always that price. I said that it was cheaper before. Then they told me that the 5W20 oil was more expensive and that was the reason, that before they sold me with a loss. I then said, what, you didn't put the right oil the 1st 2 times I came here?I paid and went away, but I'm gonna find another place for the next times. No way I'm gonna $56 for each change of oil...Do you think that Toyota dealers agree to do the oil change on the Vibes? I'm sure they're cheaper.

DIY, man. It's easy, and you can put that extra cash towards better oil and filter than what they use at the dealer. And yes, I'm sure the Toyota dealer would do the change for you as well, but still at a premium. Still, do it yourself. These cars sit so high that you don't even have to jack it up, just shimmy under the bumper

I've just had my 4th oil change done at the dealership where I bought my 08. When I bought my Vibe, the dealer gave me a card that gaurantees oil changes for $24.95 for as long as I own the car. So even if the price of an oil change goes up to $100 - I still pay $24.95. I suppose it is just a gimmick to get you in the dealership, but it works for me. I usually changed my own oil, but the cost of the oil and filter is almost what I pay at the dealer. The dealer gets me on my way within 30 minutes, does an overall inspection of the car, and I get a free doughnut and coffee!!!!

Around $40 is usually what I'm paying. Then they add on the "shop supplies", tax, etc. I used to do my oil changes myself when I lived at home, but it's against the AOAO rules when I bought my condo.

No need to always go to a Pontiac or other new car dealer. I've been switching around some based on who's running specials. Last summer the Pontiac dealer had some coupons for $6 oil changes so I went there. Then this fall a Ford dealer offered them for $5 so I had one done there (they specified domestic makes so the Vibe was ok but a Matrix wouldn't have been). Next week I'm using a free oil change coupon at another Pontiac dealer (our previous dealership closed and this one is trying to get their old customers). If none of the local dealers is running a special then I'll take it to an independent garage that has a reasonable price. And I sometimes do my own, but with the coupon discounts it's frequently even cheaper than buying the oil and filter.

In mid-2003 the first time I went to the dealer for a LOF I bought a card with 10 oil changes for $119.99. About a year ago they increased the price to $189.99 for 10 oil changes (no added shop charges either) but now it includes a couple of extra benefits such as emergency road service within 4 months of a change etc.. I am still working off the first card as a couple of times I went to Goodyear for a $19.99 oil change and tire rotation deal. I think the dealer's regular price for an oil change is about $28 - no more than Jiffy Lube.$40-50 for a dino oil change with filter is a rip, and dino oil is the same price if 10w30, 5w30, 5w20 etc.

5W20 more expenisve? pfft! they're full of it! Each time I've bought 5W20, it's been the same price as its 30 weight counterpart. The only thing I've really noticed with it is that sometimes they don't stock as much 20 in the big mal*wart type stores compared to the other weights. It's around $30 for an oil change at the Pontiac dealer down the street. That seems to be the going rate pretty much anywhere. Last time we paid $19.99 with coupon (reg. $24.99) at an independent shop. I brought them an AC Delco filter so they knocked off a couple bucks.
