hmmm Hybrid. I swear I am running one of these Prius hypermiler into the center divider or median some day. GET IN THE SLOW LANE AND OUT OF MY WAY!@#$@)(&@#

I don't get why this is a "world record." It's certainly not for fuel economy as a whole, as many cars can surpass that.Perhaps this record is for a production vehicle (though I recall a few Honda insight hypermilers doing nearly 100mpg).Something seems suspect.

68 MPG is nothing to a hypermiler in a hybrid, considering how some can get 100+ MPG over shorter distances. Some people are able to get this world record mileage out of a non-hybrid if they try hard enough. But I guess considering this was a 7559 mile trip across the country with 3 people in the car driving in a wide variety of conditions, it seems to be a pretty decent achievement.It's discussed here if anyone is interested:http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums...17869

yeah crazy people in japan get over 110mpg in prius's. 68? pffft that is nothing. how about a world record for pissing people off? i like the quote about "i get there just as fast but smarter" HA NO you dont you get there slow...stfu.
