Electric steering system have 0 kick back and 0 road feel. Sometime you don't know how much traction you have on the front wheels. It is a big problem when you drive on a snow country road. I know 0 kick back is good but I would also want to see did i spin my front tires or the front tire lost grip.

I agree the steering in the '09 is like driving a video game there is very little feedback through the steering as the traction, slip and wheel spin. Actually force feedback in many games probably gives you more feelback that the '09 Vibe. Many times the only real clue to the actual road conditions is the traction control light flashing and the sound of the ABS otherwise most of the road feel wet or dry is dampened so much by the electronic steering servo that you don't feel anything. Steering would probably feel much better if the steering servo was switched off when the steering near the center position and steering is purely manual

This is a lot of why Motor Trend is slamming the Vibe/Matrix/corolla in the Car of the Year article I posted in the general section... road feel is VERY important... Just imagine the road feel I get in my car below... She's a 2 hander.. lol..

Talking to my HMI (Human Machine Interface) engineers they were joking around that I should have ordered the "Force Feedback steering" option... LoL....I do understand Toyota's logic for the electronic steering servo to reduce parasitic power loss by a hydraulic power steering pump for the engine but I have used aftermarket electronic power steering units in cars that I have built that have a lot more road feel than the OE unit in the '09 Vibe/ Matrix/ Corolla
