Hi EveryoneNew to the site and looking to buy a vibe. Most likely a 2009 with a 2.4 I have what is called a boler trailer. Made in 1976 it is a fiberglass trailer including hitch it measures 13 ft (actual trailer is 10ft) in length. Weighs in about 1400lbs and has electric brakes.Just wanted to know if anyone else has towed a boler with their vibe and their thoughtsCheersAlCalgary, Alberta

At "about 1400 lbs" you're right at the Vibes's max trailer weight of 1500 lbs. To be on the safe side, I would recommend taking the trailer to a public scale in your area and have it weighed fully loaded........no longer have to guess at "about 1400 lbs". If you tow with a auto tranny, consider installing an auxiliary tranny cooler.

I just Googled bolers. They are pretty cool. Reminds me of a cross between a VW Micro Bus, and an Airstream. I think I want one.

People have posted on here that they have towed 1600+ lb. pop-up campers with their Vibe (older one with the 1.8L engine). I don't see 1400lbs with the larger engine being a problem. But I couldn't say for sure. The owners manual or sticker inside the door doesn't say a max. towing capacity? I checked Edmunds.com for the information, but they don't have the 09 on the site yet.

I would presume trailer weight and towing info would be in other Vibe model years owner manuals also. Are you willing to take a chance overloading your vehicle just because someone else did?

We are planning to drive from Maine to Alaska pulling a 1000# teardrop trailer (5'H,7'W,8'L). We are concerned about overtaxing the transmission and engine over the Rockies. Any suggestions.
