Question about NUMMI and a photo

So I drove by NUMMI the other day as I was working on a photography project for school, and I decided to climb a small hill nearby and take a few shots of their back lot where they load the cars on to the trains. Here's my question: I spotted a lot of Matrices, Camrys and Siennas near the open train cars. Is NUMMI used as a point of delivery/shipment from TMMC, TMMK, and TMMI as well as Vibe/Corolla/Tacoma production?I saw a lot full of 2009 Vibes as well, and a semi-trailer full of them but they were a bit further in the complex, and I don't have a good telephoto, plus I don't really want to look like I'm spying on them with my SLR. I'm just an enthusiast

I already ventured a few feet on to their property (I think, hard to tell it was an open field with no fencing) to take these photos. One of these days I really need to take a tour of NUMMI. Considering it's the only west coast auto manufacturing plant, we own 3 Vibes in my family (hopefully a 4th soon), and I live about 5 miles away, I really should get down there.Sorry for the crappy shot and big photo. I just fired a few off so I could examine them later, so I wasn't really thinking about setting up a good photograph.

I recommend going on the NUMMI tour. It was interesting to see how they implemented their 'just-in-time' inventory and I was surprised at the intermixing of Corollas and Vibes on a single line. They also emphasized how labor/management relations had changed compared to the previous GM facility although it's still a UAW shop.We had indicated on the tour reservation that we owned a couple NUMMI products (Nova and Vibe - have since added another Vibe). At the end of the tour they called out our name and one of the people gave us a couple free Pontiac Vibe T-shirts. She also took down the VIN numbers and later emailed us "birth certificates" with the exact minute when the cars came off the assembly line.Don't know about their distribution system of cars to the dealers, but I wouldn't be surprised if they get other Toyota models from railcars and then combine them with Corollas/Tacomas on trucks for delivery to local dealers.

How cool would that be to have the birth certificate for your car!!!!!! Man I don't even have my car yet I have the dealership holding on to the build sheet for me but that would be super cool. I was in California last year so I can't see being down there for tour any time soon but wow you are super lucky.

I've spent way too many hours in plants for work, but every time I go to a new plant, I'm fascinated by the process. If you look around, there are loads of ingenious little solutions to problems. I'm a geek for that kind of stuff though.

I was kinda on their property by about 15 yards, so I quickly snapped a few shots then got right back to my car. I have no idea if I'd eventually be visited by some security. I didn't want to find out :-)I'm not sure what the white/red Matrices were about. They said something on the side, but I could only catch a portion of it. "TEKN"
