I was watching TV yesterday and saw a commercial for the new Pilot, which to me looks hideous now. They called it the Pilot Crossover?? Now I may be vague on the definition of one, but I'm pretty sure that the Pilot fits the full-size SUV category more than crossover.Crossover makes me think of the Chrysler Pacifica, new Toyota Venza, Ford Edge, etc. They claim the Pilot as one in the commercial because it can run on as little as 3 cylinders instead of the full 6. That's great, except there is a name for it. Cylinder Deactivation which was first pioneered by GM in their models and now exists in Jeeps too. So what else would make the new Pilot suddenly a Crossover? Or is it that the term is so widely used that they are trying to ploy the title off so people don't get fear from the SUV name tag. If I knew better I would say false advertising.

I think that they are saying that because the platformfor the Pilot has always been the Odyessy (sp?) platform...which has been the Accord platform...which then makes the Pilot's platfrom that of a CAR,which then lets them play with words a bit.I think the Pilot is an SUV.....but the entire SUV/crossover/multi-person vehiclegenre has become vague and fuzzy in the last 5 years

the pilot took over where the passport left off...and it essentially is a crossover.the widely accepted definition for a crossover is a vehicle with SUV/truck like utility, with a car-like drivetrain.so yeah, the pilot, by that definition, is most definitely a crossover.

Yeah, it definitely isn't an SUV.A real SUV is generally truck-based and has a full frame underneath, not that pansy unibody crap like a crossover.
