These are rated good overall and very good (for an allseason) for snow.http://www.tirerack.com/tires/...ce=10h ... e=2Nothing works like a good snow tire for winter.P.S. The RSA is total crap, especially on snow and ice. Get rid of them ASAP.

I also just noticed that the f1 tire isn't offered in the size your looking for.

You won't really find a 4-seasons tires with ice and snow performance. Under -10c the rubber on these tires becomes too hard to go a good job. You can get by on very occasional snowing but you'll never have performance. That being said, the RS-A is one suicidal tires on snow and ice. I tried it since I got the car in march and could not find 16 inches steel wheels for the end of winter... I am never driving on snow/ice with these tires again.

All season = NO season.... the do everything decently, but nothing GOOD... summer tires for summer, winter tires for winter...

I had Kumho Ecsta ASX which were good but did wear out pretty quick IMO. But were an improvement on the stock RS/ACurrently I have General Altimax HP. Still stock size, great so far with about 3,000 miles on them so far. Were giving ratings all 8's for all conditions from dry to snow.I know some on here preach the snow tire rule and switching over or keeping a set on steels for winter. But most people either don't want or don't need dedicated tires for the few times they do get snow. For me, I have yet to get my car stock, but I also have AWD which helps immensely regardles off the tire. But if it is so bad out you question going, then don't, stay home, start a fire, and watch a movie. Besides I could always walk to the bar if need be. But the Generals were given good ratings over the Kumho's and they all cost about the same which is less than the stock RS/A

I was going to try the Generals that you bought on Michele's G5, but they weren't available in a 205/50/17. I didn't want go up or down a size so I bought Dunlop SP Sport Signatures http://www.tirerack.com/tires/...ace=2The ride quality is good, handling on wet roads has been great so far. We haven't had snow yet, but the Dunlops ratings are comparable to the Generals that you bought. They are available in the 205/55/16 too.

I try and keep my peoples safe.... I could be like most and not care...lol... that's just not right though, so you will continue to see me harping about snows in the winter... Tires are cheap, especially, if you start comparing them to insurance deductibles/premiums, car repairs and (gulp) possibly hospital time... I've said it before and i'll say it again.... The WORST winter tire, will be better than the BEST A/S tire in the snow... It's simple math.. I'm not saying that they would save you in an unfortunate event of an accident, but EVERYBODY owes it to themselves to make the car as worthy for the road as possible... A few hundred dollars isn't always easy to come up with for most, I know, but the alternatives are, well, worse...

I'm sure a full blown snow tire will perform best in deep snow but according to Tire Rack, after 26,000,000 miles the survey results speak well of Goodyear TripleTreds. Looks like it's the #1 overall passenger all-season tire but then again there's no telling what you may hear. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/...=true

If you are planning on doing any driving in snow A/S tires freeze into rocks.. Milage is NOT the only consideration that should be taken into account when buying tires... I feel like i'm talking to the wall a lot of times... I think people in general think that all I concern myself with is high speed high grip performance, which is completely un-true... I have a summer and winter mode, I don't have the best summer tires OR the best winter tires.. I have the happy medium.. I see tripple tread EVERYWHERE, and I STILL guarentee that they are worst in the snow/cold than ANY dedicated snow tire... So why not TT's for spring/summer/fall and a crappy set of snow tires for winter?? I have no idea, I guess most really, truely don't understand the benifits of snow tires and would much rather put thier wallet in front of their safety and the safety of their families... pitty..

Isn't that what I stated in my post - "a full blown snow tire will perform best in deep snow". I mean, duh, how can anyone argue that. Any specialty tire had better perform extremely well at what it was specifically designed for. Look at the title/subject stated by the OP. He's referring to replacing the the RS-A with a better ALL-SEASON tire and the TrippleTred fits that bill, at least according to the Tire Rack survey. The OP also atated he wanted to avoid a snow tire. If one doesn't like a certain tire or reading survey/test results just don't buy them or read them.

do the math... a cheap set of 16"snows mounted and ballanced. 450buckscheap set of summer tires mounted and ballanced 450buckstotal 800bucksthe tires will last longer expect to see at least 5-6seasons out of each setnow do the math on all seasons.... top of the line 140-150 each. total 600buckstotal seasons on them about 3-5season... it's cheaper in the long run to have summer and winter tires than an all season tire

My Falken FK452's I got for under 100$ per tire and they get RAVE reviews on my Subaru site.. (coming from real people who drive real performance cars on real roads and speak the real truth to... lol.. ) My apologies DJB383, I didn't mean to get harsh, but the guy is talking about ice and snow, on A/S tires... it's a scary thought to me now that i've made the switch.. Last winter in fact, if you remember, I started the snow season on my DD A/S tires (not my choice BTW) and it was TERROR.. 2-3 trips to work(45mi each way) and I was looking for an alternative... then I found the snows from my Subie, fit the Vibe... WOW, what a relief that was... It wasn't as nice as having AWD with snows, but it was DEFINITELY better than the A/S tires I had on the car... (I had been driving on snows for years at that point, I to, was in the same boat of not wanting to buy snow tires and wheels, I lucked out... I woulda bought snows if I had been forced to though)I won't ever trust A/S tires again, unless i'm forced to...
